One Plug Solution
I was issued a new work Latitude 3400 which no longer uses the traditional dock port at the bottom. I use 3 monitors and bring the laptop home often so I went in search of a USB c plug style dock. The laptop does not use thunderbolt but does have display port and PD over the USB C port. The issue with most docks that will run 3 monitors properly is finding one that also supplies enough power. My laptop in particular wants 65W and most top out at 60W. Before purchase I contacted Startech over their website chat and was told this dock would work. I wanted to make sure because this dock is expensive compared to others and I had already tried a few that didn't work for me. They said it would work so I ordered it up and it does work great. I've had it in service for a few months now and I'm able to plug in a single USB C and run all 3 monitors in addition to keeping my computer charged while at work. I did run a small USB splitter in the rear to get a few more ports back there as well. Its a fairly substantial cost for convenience but with 100W PD available it may serve through several laptops in the end.

Don't attempt to connect two 30" Apple cinema displays
This is a great item, despite my specific problem. This product, which uses the DisplayLink chipset, is NOT compatible with 2 30" Apple Cinema displays (from 2008) using 2 active DisplayPort adaptors. (it will work with 1). This was my 3rd dock from 3 companies, and they all 'failed' the same way. The folks at Startech.com tech support are top notch. They really go the extra mile to help you troubleshoot; they are thinking it is an incompatibility between the chipset and my old monitors, when I have more than one connected.I really liked the design of this and I'm sorry that I have to return it.

works great...a few small issues.
okay so i am using this on my work computer to put a screen on 2 27" 4k monitors while still using the notebook monitor too. unfortunately, i could not find one otherwise that didnt need drivers installed. i plugged this one in and started it up, a few beeps later it was up and running without having to have any drivers installed. i just used it for 5 or 10 minutes so not thorough yet but i switched the resolution up to 4k on both and it ran like a champ. everything looked good, no stutters or blurriness on moving/selecting so i think it is good.so, this works excellent on its own. there are a couple of issues i have that do not deter me from buying or using but...1. the power cord on the computer side, the cord is SO SHORT i have to leave the transformer on my desk which annoys me greatly! laptops go ON or above desks so that cord should be at least desk height. now, the other section of the cord is longer but like i said, i HAVE to leave the transformer on my desk.2. there are only 3 usbs type a and 1 usb type c (the other is to plug into the computer). for the money, there should be like 5 as and 3 or 4 cs.i mean, this was a top-end price-tag, it should be perfect but if you need one...well.i do like that it is 4k on display ports as well. there is a power switch on the back to turn things off and a quick charge port for devices which is nice but not perfect for the price. i would recommend it though and i will be keeping mine.

6 Stars—good product and great tech spt; need to install drivers
Windows 10 didn't automatically install the drivers needed to use the display port outputs. Once I discovered that, all was well. The startech.com website was reasonably easy to navigate to find the needed driver. Installation was straightforward. The product is performing well. I tested all the ports. I do wish it has a couple more USB-A/USB 3.0 ports, but I'll manage--this just made my laptop (a well equipped 2018 HP spectre x360) into a solid workstation (driving a 2 24" 1080p displays in addition to the laptop's built in 4k display. In case this is of use, when I tested the HDMI output, it was pushing the 1080p picture at 60Hz. I couldn't find anywhere in startech's specs what the refresh rate was at 1080p (it lists the 4k HDMI at 30Hz so I was a little worried the HDMI chipset might be underpowered, but it looks just fine.Update—thought it had died, and thought trying to get tech support was going to be a frustrating and useless step—I was so wrong. Online chat support easily transitioned to an online call and remote diagnostic connection—with a North American English speaking person and someone that quickly stepped through reasonable questions and steps. Figured out that I’d accidentally plugged my laptop USB-C into the wrong port (only one of the two on the hub supports the laptop main connection—and if you connect it to the second port, none of the other ports are connected—so it looked like the hub wasn’t working!Overall—best tech support and commitment to the product that I’ve experienced in a long time and very easy to get support. I will shop for Startech stuff first for any of the products they sell.
