Gates91143 Large Id Hose Cutter

I used the tool to cut a Fuel Tank-to-Fuel Filler Neck hose w/length 3" and 2"ID. It was Gates hose #23972 SAE J30 R6. On the 1st picture you see 3 hoses, from left to right: 1st - original, 2nd - my 1st cut w/the tool, 3rd - my 2nd cut w/the tool + raizor blade (more exactly Utility Knife - Retractable Box Cutter Utility Knife for Cartons,Cardboard and Boxes). 1st cut was quite easy, but came to be with not that ideal edges, so I needed to adjust the edges w/very heavy duty scissors (Fiskars Titanium Nitride). Then I realized that I cut in a wrong way, by pressing the ends of the tool too much. So next cut I did following the instructions on the box precisely). Before I marked the line w/ Tire Marker pencil, then very accurately started to rotate, pressing very lightly on the handles. After 5-10 min of this activity I was able to make a very nice mark of the desired lines (top and bottom of the 3" hose needed). But I felt that I won't be able to complete those lines into cuts at least in a short time. I used a knife w/razor blade. The project went faster, and I was able to complete it like in 10 min. The line of cut was much better, but not ideal, like those you see on products done by a manufacture. Smaller hose (19/32") was cut w/no difficulties with a very clear cut. So I would say you can use that hose for large IDs, but probably you would need a knife with razor blade in addition (regular knife (and pretty good) doesn't work on that material).

Fantastically simple product for one simple purpose, yet so satisfying to use. I’ve never been able to cut a hose as cleanly as this tool allows you to do. All my cuts using this cutter came out looking just like the end of a hose that came out of a new package. Everything is looking factory OEM now! I highly recommend it if you’ve been cutting hoses with a box cutter or some other scissors, this tool makes quick work of it.

Feels like it might break, but put a hose in it and it cuts right through with no problem.

Does not easily cut 1 inch hose, somewhat dissapointed

Not very sturdy. Does not cut through radiator hoses with out a fight.

I don't know how I lived without this cutter for so long. Makes a clean cut on large and small diameter hoses. Wll be a standard tool in my toolbox!

I sprayed WD on blade and cut through a 2" OD fuel fill hose on 2020 Chevy truck. Like butter...

Je déteste ce couteau , lorsque je coupe du tuyau pladecc la lame est longue et ne reste pas centrer alors le couteau brise .
