Keeps the product fresh for long periods.

I bought four two-packs of the 16-cup containers and I am thrilled with them. I measured the insides of my cupboards and these 8-inch high containers fit very well and have transformed my chaotic cupboards into an orderly, inviting storage area. I have tried various kinds of pretty canisters but they rarely seal well, so I would end up just keeping flour, etc in their original bags, which was unsightly and not air-tight. Also, it is hard to find any canisters that are as space-saving as these. Anything with a whimsical design or shape, forget it, they would end up cluttering my countertop. These might be more utilitarian, but they really make the most of the space you have. I also love that you can see what is in the container without opening it. I might need to label a few, but mostly not.Especially in warm weather, but sometimes year-round, we often have a problem with moths. They seem to be able to get into almost anything. I have often had to resort to storing flour and grains in the freezer, which really used up a lot of my freezer space. I would have to put the flour or grain bags in plastic bags to protect them from moisture, and the whole thing was just a pain. Now my freezer can be used properly for frozen foods, and my cupboards are neat and orderly! The lids on these containers seal VERY snugly and I defy any moth to try to get in!You can use them for just about anything: flour, sugar, rice, oatmeal, any other grains, breakfast cereal, granola, fresh-baked cookies, all those packets that clutter up the cupboard (salad dressing mix, soup mix, taco seasoning, just put them all in one of these!) I would not recommend them for brown sugar because any air at all in the head space of the container will cause it to harden like rock. I'm using the 8 I bought for: white flour, whole wheat bread flour, whole wheat pastry flour, white rice, basmati rice, brown rice, cornmeal, and plastic bags containing split peas, lentils, etc that are in too small amounts for their own containers. I will no doubt be getting more of these, and other sizes as well. Such a well-made, useful product.

I really like this but it looks like Rubbermaid has discontinued it in favor of a new design. Having purchased the new line of merchandise, I like this style better. I have a lot of problems with bugs getting into my pantry goods and this is more secure.

I ordered these to store food in and they were exactly what I wanted and as pictured. They are sturdy and durable and great to put food in like granola bars or milk bones, etc. I was very pleased.

I had concerns that this item was going to be too small, but it works for my needs. It will hold a 5 pound bag of flour with room for my scoop. I also typically tape the type of flour to the container like a label so I know what type of flour it is (brand) and I also add the expiration date even if I expect to use it up before it has a chance to expire. The tape sticks nicely and it's easy enough to remove when the time comes.
