I wouldn't buy the kindle version
I love this book, have loved it for ages, so I wondered what the new edition would be like (many years passed between the 2nd and 3rd edition). Given the price difference I decided to try the kindle sample to see if it manages to give the same experience, but it doesn't. To be honest: it couldn't. The book and its method are very visual, with different lay-outs continually changing, which works fantastically on paper, but on my 6" kindle just doesn't come forward. The approach is incredible: you get sucked in from the start and manage to understand all the concepts in the right order and intensity. If you want to learn (more) about java I totally recommend buying the print version as this is by far the best book I ever read for teaching a subject. Any, that is, and I have read many.

Easy to read
Helpful breakdowns of java.

Dreadful piece of work
I did not like anything about this book. It is, in one word: chaos. This must be the worst book I have ever read on a technical subject. It tries too hard to be 'cool', but falls flat on it's face. It is like trying to learn Java from a combination of tweets and graffiti. If you are interested in learning Java, please don't buy this book.As for all the other glowing reviews, well, I am dubious. There are far better, more structured books than this out there. It was a waste of money.

A lot of dangerous mistakes
The book is fairly new however, some of the mistakes can be misleading and annoying for newcomersFor an O'Reilly book, I would have thought it would be in better order
