An impressive CPU. Moore's Law upheld.
My first computer was ZX Spectrum 56k. My second, a Commodore 64. Third, Amiga 300. 4th, Amiga 500, 5th, Quad speed Win95, 6th, Win98 P4 1.7Ghz. 7th, AMD Phenom ll Q4 955 3.2Ghz. <= (excluding my laptops)What can I say. Other than on paper, I now realise I have had more computers than I have relationships ! :$Which may not say a lot for my chatup lines, but hopefully it will my coding ones!Moore's law is still upheld, in principle. And, as long as we [mankind] don't annihilate each other, the future can only be bright. This is a great processor, capable of computations I only dreamed about as a boy. (I'm 35)I am from the home PC generation. I used to study my 'BASIC' coding book for my spectrum on Saturday afternoons when I was 7. I now develop software for various companies as well as motion graphics.I'm not keen on the K versions. I don't OC. It worked straight out of the box with a new Gigabyte Z97-UD5H-BK. I swapped the stock cooler for a BeQuiet Dark Rock 3, and runs cool and extremely quiet.100% recommended for staggering stability and performance for professionals and enthusiasts alike.

Intel I7 4790
I do alot of video editing and this chip has certainly speeded up my work flow. What took what took up to an hour on my old I5 is now completed in half the time. The grandkids love it as it made their games perform much better. All in all definately worth the money.

10/10 CPU, Cheap, brilliant!
Upgraded to this from a i5-4460 and you can tell the difference.I used to close games to ensure I wouldn't have any FPS issues when playing other games, now I can have any game open and running in the background without stressing about the CPU not being able to handle it.It's perfect, can handle having open anything you need without worries or concern, would recommend.

Great for gamers and editors alike!
Great chip! This is a great processor all round delivering great power with reasonable power consumption.I personally recommend this i7 if you are a pc gamer or/and a firstish time editor with rendering performance being great for the price and socket.Pros&ConsPROSGreats stabilityGood temperature distributionVery reasonable priceVery powerful for the priceCONSCan not overclock and that's about it for cons that I can think of off the top of my head.To summarizeGreat performance for a non overclocked processor. I recommend it for gamers and editors that don't have the budget to upgrade to skylake and is all round a good addition to most systems.

But a very good cpu, would recommend
Although it says 3.60GHz, it is actually 4GHz, if you go to intel's official website and search for this processor, it will say ''base clock speed, 4GHz''. plus i have purchased this and it says 4GHz on the box and it clearly goes ever 3.6 in the performance tab on the task manager. But a very good cpu, would recommend.(Assuming that you have the money)

The i7 4790(not the K)is the CPU to get for a HP G1 800 SFF gaming rig with a GTX 1050ti for FPS!
Be buying from this trusted seller time and time again from now on, i just wish they sold motherboards!

a beast!
It might only be 4th Gen but it is still a beast of a processor! One thing I would add is that I would invest in a better quality heatsink and fan as the one supplied with the processor is woefully inadequate (in my opinion) as the CPU throttles speed when it overheats

Very good chip - BUT !!!!
Be very, very careful about your choice of Mother board. This is a Haswell-Refurbished model and not quite 4thGen. More like 4.25..!I can confirm that it works fine in a Gigabyte GA-Z87-HD3 with Bois F7, but NOT with an Asus P87-Plus, even with the 2003 or 2004 Bios that Asus recommend. This chip replaced an i7-4770 that I was already very happy with in a VM-Ware server - the two extra GHz speed *are* noticeable and well appreciated.Check my Asus Z87 Review for more info about what went wrong with the "i7-4790 and a Z87-Plus" and how I came to a compromise.
