Rusts almost immediately
**Update**I'm changing my four-star rating to one. As I'm see others point out, this thing rusts ridiculously easily, even if you hand wash it and dry it. I used it the one time, hand washed it, wiped it off and put it in my drawer. I got it out yesterday and found significant amounts of rust on it. Another person commented that one should never put carbon steel blades in the dishwasher - but this came in a plain plastic bag so there were no instructions to warn a person of that fact. Even so, I hand washed mine and it still rusted. I am very unhappy about it. It was $6.19 when I bought it; not a ton of money, but six bucks is six bucks, and it should be usable past one time. I'll treat it with rust remover, but I see from other reviewers that it will rust irrespective of how you treat it. Very disappointing.I have two other peelers that I really like, but got this one with the carbon blade to peel winter squash. It worked like a warm knife cutting butter. It's a wee little peeler and when I first saw how small and light weight it was, I thought it was a joke. But it really takes care of tough peel jobs like butternut squash, etc.

Surprise - works great
When I opened the box I looked at this peeler and thought it was a cheap plastic throwaway after it breaks in the first use. I ordered this because I needed a good peeler and it was the top recommendation of America's Test Kitchen. There's a reason ATK liked this - it works. It's light weight but sturdier than it looks at first glance. It doesn't dig deeper than needed when peeling carrots but gets through the tough skin on butternut squash. And as a bonus there's a small hole off to one side that allows the peeler to slide over one of the tines of the dishwasher rack so it doesn't bang around and dull the blade. The photo on Amazon doesn't show this handy feature but it's there on mine.

The easiest best peeler
This replaced one I lost. It works great. I even use it for cheese.

Best vegetable peeler EVER
I laughed when my husband requested this, but I needed stocking fillers for Christmas so I figured why not. It has quickly become the only vegetable peeler I will ever buy. It’s so inexpensive but it’s durable and sharp and easy to clean. It perks so easily and even the kids think it’s fun. It’s genius. My brother in law is a professional chef and he told my husband about it. It really is a wonder tool!

Rusted
Worked well for citrus peels. Rusted after maybe a year of occasional use. Even my old dollar store peelers never rusted.

Junk
Rusted after third use. Don't buy unless you are willing to clean and dry immediately after use. I've had a different brand for 6+ years that has never rusted. Ergonomics of the handle are nice, blade is sharp.
