I purchased this rain gauge not only for its practical function but also as a piece of garden sculpture. We'd had no precipitation in some time but today there was a gentle rain for much of the day. The gauge captured two inches and this was the approximate amount of precipitation that our area had received according to the local weather report. The tube is thick glass, it is easy to put together and the little bird is adorable. Whether it rains or not this little sculpture is a pretty addition to the garden.

Gave to friend for Christmas. She really likes it and thinks it's so pretty. The metal makes for a sturdy stand alone rain catcher.

Very attractive a glass vial rather than plastic. Overal good look, the wife loved it.

I live in South Georgia where it is supposed to be warmer. This is the second time I have had a rain gauge shatter from winter weather. Two years ago, my rain gauge of ten years broke because of the freeze. Not bad after ten years. This one, though, only lasted two years. The glass was very thin and it shattered with the snow storm this year. The design is quite lovely and I like the wide opening.

I forgot about the glass tube in Houston's low temp freeze with snow & ice and the glass tube was full of water, froze and broke, also. The LED died early on, after receiving the gauge. Can I order a couple of extra glass tubes?

I must say, this is nice! I love the look of it in my backyard after dark, when it's lit up! It's actually pretty bright. It goes up to 7" on the gauge. When most others only go up to 5". I do suggest this one as a great purchase, and it's not too expensive! The packaging is great, holding the product firm enough so nothing bad happens before it gets to you. Shipping time is quite fast too. I bought one for myself, my oldest son, and my dad.

It was beautiful until it wasn’t. The bottom of the glass tube broke out - went outside and found it like that. Have only had it 7 months. Can’t find a replacement tube that fits it because most replacements are a little wider than this one. Tried the ‘product support’ link in the Orders section and it takes you to Amazon cust service… not worth the time.

This is a cute little rain gage. I questioned if it was accurate. Our rain totals seemed a bit high. I bought a regular standard rain gage and put it right next to it in the middle of our yard. This gage measures significantly higher. We had a good storm last night. This gage measured over 4”, the other one measured 2 1/2”. I’ll keep this as a yard decoration, but not as a rain gage.
