Works well!
This egg candler is really nice and the light is quite powerful. It’s easy to use because there is a soft flexible ring that you can set the eggs on securely and simply pushing a button makes it light up. I was able to use it with one hand. It allowed me to see development in eggs that had dark brown and also blue-green shells, which are typically very hard to candle. The egg candler didn’t get hot during use and the light was bright enough that I could see chick movement and heartbeats in a couple of my light colored eggs, which was really cool. If you’re debating between this and a cheaper model, as I was, I would recommend paying the extra money for this one because it works so well and the quality is really nice. It definitely seems like a product that will last a long time and like a good value.

Easy to Use Egg Candler
I am a first time incubator and bought this egg candler after reading many reviews on other types of candlers. I received this product on Day 3 of my incubation period. (My incubator is the Brinsea Octagon Advance 20.) I tried candling on Day 3 as I read on the instructions posted on the internet. I didn't have much to look at so we left the eggs there. Following the instructions that came with the incubator, I candled again on Day 7. It was very easy to see which eggs were fertile and which ones were not. 19 out of the 20 eggs we were incubating were fertile. I highly recommend this product for ease of use. I have my candler on the countertop next to my incubator and I am able to hold the incubator lid with one hand and grab and place the egg in question on the candler with the other hand. Feels more secure than using a flashlight or a handheld candler. For comparison, I have shown both the fertile and infertile egg in the photographs. You will not be disappointed.

Best candler right now
I got a few other brands and they are too weak or don't work well with different egg sizes. Marans eggs are hard to candle this is the best one to light it. It's a bit difficult to see but it's 10x much better than any else.

Works, but not well made.
Arrived today, and it works, the light is very bright and I could view the eggs even in the daylight. I'm sure it will be amazing in the dark. But it is very cheaply made. The plastic housing has a gap in it at the smaller end and around the switch. I need it so I'm not returning it, but it's made so poorly I wouldn't buy it again.**UPDATE**The gap made the light glare in the dark and decreased the ability to see clearly. I did return it for an exchange, which arrived quickly, without the flaw, no gap, no glare and worked very well. Very bright, could see inside the eggs very well. Only had trouble with a dark green one. I had no trouble with the return. That being said, it's still kind of cheaply made for the money. I think it's overpriced.

Get a high power flashlight and putty will be cheaper and brighter
Too expensive for ability to see. The magnification chamber usless eggs fall over no support

I love this little candler
I love this little candler!!! I candle my brown eggs to sell at market. Brown eggs are a little harder than white eggs to candle. After you see enough of them, it gets easier to see those note even the small blemishes inside. I take it out to our brooder house to where we have our incubators and check to see how the eggs are coming along. This certainly is not a $300 candler, but it works great for what I need. The gentleman from the state who came to certify me to get my state egg license was surprised at how well it worked for a small hand held candler.

More powerful and clear than any other!
Much more visibility than others I've used. Still a slight ring of light between fitting and base, but that's minimal. I'd definitely recommend getting this and not wasting time or money on all the other sub-par substitutes!

A Valuable Tool
What a cool little device! I used this to candle a finch egg, and it provided adequately clear images through the slightly blue spotted shell. It comes with 2 rubberized interchangeable mounts that will fit average sized hens' eggs & eggs as small as finch eggs. The rubberized mounts are nice & level, so the eggs do not roll around or wobble. I found the overall size of the device convenient as far as handling a small egg. The light is very bright! This candler was a valuable tool as far as monitoring the development of our incubated finch egg.
