Other than bamboo, what are they made with? Is there melamine filler?

Our bamboo toddler dishes are made of natural bamboo fibers, then molded using a binding resin. The resin has trace amounts of food-safe, FDA-approved melamine. This allows for the dishes to be washed in the dishwasher. (Despite what other manufacturers claim, there are no dishwasher-safe bamboo products on the market made without this resin.) Our bamboo dishes are BPA free, non-toxic, phthalate-free, PVC free, lead-free, cadmium-free, mercury-free, and all of our products undergo strict quality control testing. We do not recommend microwaving our bamboo dishware, and with normal use there will be no risk of leaching. I hope this is helpful!

What is used to stain or dye these dishes? How does the bamboo get its color?

Hello, Thank you for your question. During the production process, a food safe colorant is added to the raw material before being pressed into dishes. This food safe colorant powder passes FDA and LFGB standards.

Can these plates be sanitized (ie boiled and/or sani cycle on the dishwasher)?

Can these plates be microwaved?
