Still working after a year, and has been a success for mom with dementia
We've had this for over a year for my wife's mom. She has dementia and couldn't keep up with which pills to take, and we sometimes thought she was over-taking her meds, so we switched her to using this dispenser. It's still working after a year, and took her mom several weeks to get used to it, but it was helpful. My wife has to go refill it for her every two weeks or less (for twice-daily doses), and that means she needs to have enough meds\refills on hand at the time to refill for the next two weeks, which took some getting used to and keeping better inventory of her mom's meds.Getting pills out of the device is also a little tricky for her mom... we gave her a large bowl to dump the dispenser into because you can't easily stick your finger in to it to grab the pills out. If she dumps them too hard, they can go flying and get lost, and her dexterity isn't the best. The alternative is to have the staff at her mom's Assisted Living give her pills to her, but they charge a fortune to do that, so this device is definitely worth it if it can stave that off for a while.

So easy to program that this 73 year old did it in 5 minutes. It WORKS!
The media could not be loaded. This pill container was SO easy to program. My 53 year old cousin ordered a similar model from another company. She could not program it. It took me a couple of hours but I finally got that one programmed. THIS one took less than 5 minutes to program! And I’m 73!!!I like that it has 2 different volume levels. The dosage cards fit neatly into a slot in the inner ring. The lights flash along the edge. So those with hearing loss have a visual cue! And it’s frosted so nosy visitors can’t see my medication! Also the lid locks and the keys are NOT stored with the device! If it’s turned over, the pills don’t move out of their slots.Another thing… the instruction manual is clear with GOOD diagrams.I’ve programmed mine for twice daily. It has 28 slots So I have 14 days worth of medication in my pill box. In the event that I’m not home at the time I should take my medicine, I have a back up pill box in my purse. If I’m not home when the alarm goes off, it’ll shut itself off!I’m really pleased and I’ve told all my friends about this pill box.And I recommend it for anyone concerned about themselves or a loved one taking their medications on time.

Works great, but BIG design flaw
So I love this thing, and it's been super helpful for the reasons I needed it. I kept taking the wrong meds at the wrong times and it was Bad, but with this I know I haven't taken my morning meds at night and have been much more consistent at the time I take the meds. BUT there is a major design flaw to this thing that, if you are buying this for an elderly loved one, will be a problem - if you keep it flipped upside down, the alarm will not sound. Neither will the light. It will rotate, and the meds will fall out if you have the door open, but no alert. This isn't a problem for me really, it's actually kind of nice when I know I won't be around for my alarm because of an early appointment, I just unlock and take out the dose, then flip it over so it doesn't bother my family. But if you are getting this for a loved one, and the alarm/light warning is the reason you are getting it? just be aware of this. Also, the lock can be finicky, but I haven't had any problems with it like others, so I just recommend being gentle. Setting the timers and filling the meds wasn't hard, so overall, I really like it, I just think it's important to know for others that leaving it flipped negates one it's main selling points.

this product is excellent for someone with dementia
this has worked out excellent for my mother who has beginning stages of dementia I would go with the clear cover. She had a problem, seeing the pills with the other cover, but excellent product.

Difficult to use
The alarms and clock are easy enough to set, however, the actual use of the device is not simple. You must completely turn the device upside down each time to stop the alarm. If ANY of the pills inside are fragile, the later ones in the tray will turn to powder w this constant flipping of the device. The compartments are not sealed, so small polls CAN get through to the other compartments. The dosing ring appeared to go in the opposite direction as the carousel so it never actually dosed the meds correctly. When we contacted customer service, they simply said it was doing the right thing and to watch the video here, they were no help even though it appeared we had a defective machine. If for someone w dementia or Parkinson's, it's way too hard for daily use. Do not waste your time or money.
