can this be used in the washing machine?

I've been using it in my HE washer for almost a year and have no complaints. I use white vinegar for fabric softener and I use 1 Tbsp of SalSuds per load. If I have a fresh stain I've put a little on the stain and either wash it then or I"ve also put it aside until I"m ready to wash it in a full load. I don't know about stains that are old and set in.

I'm conflicted as to get it again for showering but what is recommended for body-washing?

This product is not really meant for using on your body as it is pretty strong and would really dry out your skin. It also has fir pine oil in it, so it smells a bit like pine trees....not really a showering smell. It would probably burn if you got it on sensitive skin too. It is more intended for household cleaning. I add a couple tablespoons to a spray bottle and fill it with water. This is what I clean my countertops, sinks, etc with. Like gardenlady said, the Dr. Bronners Castille soap is for body washing, but diluted. I dilute it 50% with water for body washing, or you can mix it with almond oil for a moisturizing cleanser.

Can this be used in a dishwasher?

Hi Sam!Sal Suds can be used in the dishwasher, but we've found that it needs to be added into a "recipe" and not used alone. Here is an example of one we found on a home improvement blog called "MyBlessedHome":1 cup Dr. Bronner's Sal Suds1 cup water2 teaspoons lemon juice6 drops tea tree oil1 1/2 cup white vinegarCombine all ingredients.
