Q: Is this item really only two pounds for over thirteen dollars?

I just paid $2.86 on subscribe and save. Sounds like it was a third-party seller. (Or should we say a third party gouger)

Q: How would I microwave it? I have difficulty cooking on my stovetop.

combine 1/2 cup rice and 1-1/2 cups water in a 1-1/2 quart microwave safe dish. Microwave uncovered on High for 8-10 minutes. Reduce power to 50%, microwave covered about 15-20 minutes. Allow rice to sit for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork. Do not add salt or butter until after rice is cooked. Should make about 2-1/2 cups rice.

Q: can i microwave these bags?

This is a single bag of uncooked brown rice. I suspect you're confusing this with a "boil in the bag" rice. You can microwave this, but uncooked brown rice takes a LONG time to microwave (instuctions in answers here and various Youtube videos, etc). I just checked and the Uncle Ben's boil in bag whole brown rice costs almost as much as this whole bag. It cooks much quicker (being parboiled), but this bag gives you 20 servings, where a box (with 4 bags) of the boil in bag product only gives you 4 servings. So it's a trade-off of money vs. time, and there are some potential differences (less nutrients) with parboiled rice, per internet searches. At least both products show no additives, sodium, etc. so they're actually just a whole brown rice product.
