Nice lightweight laptop with plenty of storage
Nice lightweight laptop. Speedy to boot, it has plenty of storage and a nice large screen. More than adequate for general day to day use at a very good price.

Great Asus Vivobook 15.5" laptop, 16GB RAM, i5
Very fast system. Everything starts up and opens and shuts down so quickly. Well made case. Nice keyboard. Significantly smaller case than my last 15.5" Asus laptop. I thought I'd been sent the wrong size, but there's less rim around the screen, so the whole laptop is smaller and takes up less room when carrying. This means the keyboard is slightly smaller too, but not a problem in practise. Long battery life. Windows Updates are very efficient. Was very easy to set up from out of the box.

Great kit at £407. OS needs upgrading.
Fantastic kit for the price (£407) - it looks great and it performs well, it might struggle with resource hungry games (?)Be aware, the software is way behind and the operating system is end of life - it's Windows 11 Home 22H2 and needs upgrading.If you can avoid applying all of the outstanding Windows updates for 22H2 and go straight to Windows upgrade to 24H2 you could save yourself many hours of software updates and end up on the very latest version - just make sure you pick the option to save your files/data.Deducted 1 star due to this but that's a bit mean....4.5 stars!?Some later updates...1) WiFi card is weak/poor performing - I have added USB WiFi adaptor - much better.2) Battery life is nowhere near advertised - even after full charge it rarely shows more than 3 hours even when idling.3) Registered the device with Asus - it is showing that guarantee started nearly a year ago with 1 week left! Don't know if this is a system error or the goods were previously registered then returned - they looked brand new but...?

Unfortunately the item was not what I wanted, so I have had to return it, but it does appear to be a top of the range item

It's cheap for a reason
Update. I've reduced my review to one star as the longer I use the laptop the more I absolutely hate it. Jeepers it's pants.I'm losing faith in Amazon reviews. This device has 86% with four star or higher reviews? I find it hard to believe based on my experience with the Asus laptop. The device looks nice and boots up quickly, but it is badly let down by a very noisy fan that runs permanently when the laptop is on. I can't bear the noise. The keyboard is NOT backlit. The trackpad is noisy. The battery life is extremely poor. Overall I am not impressed with the quality and I'm seriously considering returning the item.

Just what I needed
I was looking for a new lap top as my 10 year old one was starting to run slower and slower. So I did some investigating and this fitted the bill perfectly.It is so fast it makes the old one look like an abacus. Was easy to set up and transfer my files across using the external drive I bought at the same time. It is also far better graphics than the old one and makes processing images a lot quicker and easier.

Excellent for Windows but not for Linux
As a Windows 11 PC it works very well, especially the high resolution screen and incredibly fast startup time. I'm not a Windows fan and always convert PCs to dual-boot Windows/Linux as Linux is practical and leaves the user in charge. The Wireless LAN Card in this PC is a MediaTek Wi-Fi 6E MT7902 and has no drivers compatible with Linux so for WiFi/Bluetooth use, additional hardware needs to be plugged into USB sockets. Another workaround is to use a mobile phone with USB Tethering. It's a great Windows PC and I can't complain as it was sold as this - just be aware of the WiFi/Bluetooth issues if you prefer Linux.
