Extremely useful and beautiful book
I use this book a lot and I really like it. Some recipes taste a little bland or not flavorful enough to me, so I just adjust when needed. The author obviously wrote this book to the broad non-Korean audience, so the flavors (I believe) were accommodated to the broader audience. This is not a flaw nor is it a less useful book because of that. At the end of the day we just have to make the recipes our own, but the book is an excellent starting point.

Traditional recipes
Maangchi has been around the longest when it comes to sharing Korean recipes. Korean traditional dishes that you can now make at home.

Really good recipes!!
The book itself is AMAZING. I've made the vegan kimchi from her website so many times that I decided I should just buy the book and I'm very happy I did. Definitely going to try more recipes from Maangchi! The only thing.. and it is a small thing.. the book arrived damaged! I don't feel like it's damaged enough to send back but I wish that I had purchased it in person where I could check the condition before buying.

Awesome cookbook! Can't say enough about it!
Just the right amount of text, instruction and glossy photos that most cookbooks strive for but fail; this is the exception! I HIGHLY recommend it!

i LOVE THIS BOOK
First I want to say I am an old guy from Mississippi, we are famous in the south for fried chicken, BBQ, and obesity.I used to sport 250 lbs on a 5'10" frame and it was killing me. Doctors were not the answer, they are obese too and all they had for me was pills and potions, what I needed was a life style change. Being sick and tired of being sick and tired I decided to clean up my act. Folks food is what is killing us, really good, rich food loaded with sauces, gravy's and cheese everywhere. I chose to eat to live as apposed to living to eat my only rule is the food has to be good, if it ain't good it ain't worth cookin. What I like about this book:Maangchi is a Korean mom not a professional chef (although moms are professionals) professional chefs will have you going done all sorts of rabbit holes, moms don't have time for that, they have to get good food on the table for the people they love most in a timely manner. Moms know how to "get er done".I work so I don't have time to play around either I need healty food quick and easy for cheap and it's gotta be good. This book fits that bill.I have cooked soups, stews, sides, and love it all, I can control the spice to my preference (I like it spicy) I can control the sodium. Eat the kimchi and throw your probiotics away. Kimchi stew is delicious. Most of the recipes are low fat low calorie healthy foods. If you think you might like Korean food or know you like Korean food and want to try your hand cooking some in your home, let a Korean mom be your guide, she will show you how to do it cheap and easy.I don't get anything for this review, my opinion is not jaded with profit or gain, that's my story and I'm stickin to it.

Actually pretty good for…
Actually this is pretty good for someone (like myself) who’s a vegetarian aka vegan. She actually gives an ok amount of vegetable and soy dishes options.Of course I wouldn’t recommend this to any vegan because majority of it is meat and fish, but if you are interested in well explained Korean foods and I would say simplified, then this may be right for you.She gives a decent amount of vegetable options though. I was mostly interested in the sauces and the marinates (the marinated meant for the meats, I would try it on seitan or jackfruit or tofu minus the fish sauce or whatever). I think some stuff I can actually make it into something great and vegan. Now I have not tried any of the recipes yet, but there are some recipes that I watched on YouTube that’s in here and very well explained and detailed. I do make a vegan version of her kimchi and always Maangchi’s version never goes too crazy, or goes bad or is too salty. I do have another Korean recipe book, but it’s not as good or well explained as this one and it’s way more complicated!I will be experimenting with some of the vegetable recipes. Maybe do a Korean bbq with some homemade seitan. I do appreciate that she does consider us veg heads. There are a few things she could have left out but this is the “big book of Korean cooking” so why not add them in. I was not sure if this book would be useful to me, but I’m pleasantly surprised (just have to ignore some of the animal meat parts).I already ordered some Perilla seeds to grow.-in the cover foto, the yellow and green labels are actually veg or vegan. The blue tags and pink I think I may be able to make plantbased. Also she does dedicate a section to Korean Buddhist temple, which happens to be vegan yay! The recipes aren't as exciting as some of the other recipes, but there are a few that I will try. How fun… (๑>◡<๑)
