Small and lightweight
I've been doing increasingly exposed and windy wild camping in Scotland, and I was curious what sort of wind speeds I was encountering. This seemed like one of the lightest anemometers, and it is compact enough to fit in a typical glasses case for transport (it seems like it's probably a good idea to protect the delicate looking fan). Note that it is necessary to remove the rubber cover (easily done) to access the battery compartment cover! (This clearly shown on the Amazon page for the product, but not on the paper instructions.) Users who want to make more use of the average & max measurement modes might find it a bit annoying to have to click through all the different measurement unit types available first to get to those, but if all you want to do is set say "mph" units once and just get the current reading it couldn't be simpler. Very good value device, perfect for my purposes. Cannot comment on accuracy as I have nothing to calibrate/compare against.

Does what I want from it
Happy with this purchase. It serves my purpose. I’m not sure how accurate it is but it’s good enough for what I want.

Poor
I don't trust it. I've tested the anemometer in gusts of wind that were strong enough to me step back and steady myself (and I'm a big solid lump) and it reckoned it was 20mph. I've done a lot of sailing and can't possibly believe the gusts were that light. The built in thermometer also seems to be pretty random. I have an old mercury thermometer and this seems to show temperatures three or four degrees above it some days and several degrees below it the next day.I bought it for solo camping but can't trust it at all so I'll be looking for something else.

You get what you pay for.
So arrived promptly and as described. The unit is lightweight and easy to setup. Putting the supplied button cell battery in was pretty straightforward using a 2 pence coin in the slot to open the battery compartment.Setting the unit speed to my desired mph was just few button presses, then selecting how the winds peed should be displayed: current max or average. However the temperature reading is slow to react. I took the device outside having set it all up in the house.Initial reading 20C, I knew the outside temp from my car to be around 2C. I stood for ten minutes, temp still reading around 15C, getting cold and bored, I spun the device around in the air from its lanyard. After 20mins, still reading no lower than 6C and rising as soon as I held the device body.So I suggest if want a half close to accurate reading, either buy something else, or have the device in the environment for some time, for example strung from its lanyard on the outside of your rucksack.
