Q: The plastic fitting at the bottom of my bin keeps disengaging and has now snapped. Is there anywhere that I can purchase a replacement part please?

I experienced the same problem within a short time of purchase. I contacted the supplier of my bin, NaplesUK who supplied a replacement part free of charge. However, after a short period this hA also started to disengage so probably not a long term solution. Unfortunately a poor product.

I assume you haven’t fitted the metal lid support rod (my terminology) in the top bin hinge support. From what I remember you have to press the lid really hard to get the lid to clip onto lid support arm then you can fit the lid/support into the top hinge and tighten the screw. Try putting the lid top face down on a table or work surface so you can apply some downward force when getting the clip to ease it (ha ha) over the rod. Others may have a better solution but if you still have trouble try manufacturer’s website.

Q: What is the width of the fitting hinge? The door opens to the right however we have a cavity further to the right. Will 52mm strip hold the bin?

Yes, you should be able to fix the top and bottom pivots and the lid fixing within a 50mm strip. I imagine you want to fix the bin on the door of a corner cupboard or similar, and I see no problem. When you have fitted the bin, you will find that the lid swings down a long way behind the bin, and I have fixed a small block of wood about 10mm X 10mm X 10mm that stops the lid from falling far, and this makes the cupboard more accessible when the door is open. However, you may not be able to do this within 50mm. But this is a very minor point. All this assumes a modern cupboard with concealed hinges. If you have a framed kitchen cupboard, with the door hinged on butt hnges and fitting inside the carcass frame, you will need to fix a piece of timber 50mm X the bin height X 20mm thick to pack out the bin pivots. Not difficult, but I expect you have surface hung doors. John

If the lid is going into the correct position, i.e. covering the bin, when the door is closed, the noise does not indicate a fault in the mechanism. Our bin is not particularly noisy - but perhaps we have simply become accustomed to it.
