Long time Taconic user.
I've been using Taconic for the last five or so years. I like Urban Woods. Great lather compared to others. Lube, too. DE safety razor.

Pretty good for a tin of shaving soap for traveling.
For about 20 years, I have been shaving with a straight razor at home, but when I would travel, I used a safety razor (the old-school kind with the replaceable two-edged blades) with shaving cream. The shaving cream, to me, really just doesn't soften the whiskers like a good shaving soap and hot water. I was pretty happy when I found a travel shaving brush, and then this soap. It's nice shaving soap. Very convenient to have its own tin. The first few times using it can be a bit messy because it FILLS the whole tin, and if you have too much water in the brush, the lather can run off the top, dripping onto your hand and/or the countertop. Not a huge deal, just takes some practice. The aroma of the soap is not very strong. This can be a good thing, or not so good, depending on your point of view. If you shave before showering, a mild scent is no biggie; it'll get rinsed off. If you shave after showering to take advantage of softer whiskers, and don't normally wear cologne, a somewhat stronger scent might be appreciated.Overall, not a bad investment for traveling. Grab it, toss it in your shaving kit, and hit the road!

Best Lather Ever
As with all beard/shaving related product, I think it's important to mention that I'm an African American with the typical ingrown hair concerns. Having said that, this is a great product. I have never created so much lather so easily/quickly. If that's important to you, you will love this! I love the scent too. I first purchased the Urban Woods, fell in love and bought Bay Rum. My only complaint is I wish it was stronger but I'm sure I'm in the minority and most would think the scent is strong enough. I use a preshave oil and after a few brush swirls on the soap I apply it to my face and let the lather build. The shave is very comfortable. In the end, my face doesn't feel as moisturized as some shave creams that specifically target African Americans, like Bevel, but it doesn't feel dry like a lot of other shave soaps. So being a somewhat wet shave enthusiast with ingrown hair issues, I have to be very selective in the products I use. So far, I have no concerns using this product as long as I follow the regiment. I highly recommend this and will try their other soaps.

Not the scent I was looking for, but it's not a bad product.
If you're looking for a clove forward bay rum scent, this isn't gonna be what you're after. the scent is very heavy on the cinnamon to the point I needed to double check there wasn't a mix up and it could have been a mislabeled cinnamon scent, very reminiscent of the cinnamon mixture you'd put on cinnamon rolls. the soap itself works fine, it's a solid, translucent amber puck, lathers fine, inoffensive. 3 stars because it's not *bad*, but not more than 3 because it isn't what I was looking for in a bay rum scent.Final verdict: if you're not after a clove heavy bay rum, give it a shot, if you are specifically looking for it though, this ain't your soap.

No tallow, but lathers nicely, after figuring it out.
I am not a big fan of fragrance, but the "Urban Woods" is fairly subtle at least. Wish they had a fragrance free offering. My aesthetician wife has told me that tallow based soaps leave a residue that will prevent any after-shave skin care product from penetrating. She approves of this glycerin based soap. It arrives in a steel tin which is not conducive to lathering the puck in the tin, due to potential rust. I finally figured out to pop it out of the tin and put it in the lather bowl to load up the brush, then take out the puck and whip up a good lather with the brush, adding water slowly a little bit at a time(how much water to add is the tricky part. Let the puck dry a bit before closing it in the tin. It does NOT work well to scrape some into the shaving bowl and then try to whip it up with the brush. Once lathered up properly, it is a wonderful, tallow-free, long lasting lather with great cushioning and glide. My face feels good after. I really like it and it is a good value for a high quality shaving soap.

It’s aight dries my face out
Never had used any other shaving soap besides this brand. After trying out some new ones I realized this one isn’t that great. It leaves your skin feeling tight and dry at least in my case. Smell is good though. Also on repeat passes without soap the razor just has too much friction since it’s drying
