It’s a rigid plastic- thin, so you could roll it into a big roll, but it would crush and “dent”.

Does the back have a blank map?

No it doesn't have a blank map, I did order another one that did have a blank map. The map has more cities in each State, which is equally as good as this one.

Can i put it in the wall for a classroom?

Yes! It is sturdy but light enough to stay put. I put ours on a wall so my daughter could learn the States this summer and it worked perfectly.
