I had been looking at a tool on The Grommet that looks exactly like this, called the Avo Shark, but almost 2times as much. So I purchased this one. You do get what you pay for. The pit clamp device was what I was really interested in. This one doesn't quite work the push out part, used to clamp the pit, pushes completely out & doesn't really grab. & when you try to slice & dice the sharp end keeps grabbing my wrist. Just not as safe as a simpler tool.

Not as good as I thought. If I haven't had this as long as I have I would have sent back.

I never thought I would buy an avocado tool, or any single use tool for that matter, however I took the plunge on this one, and so far its worked great! I haven't tried the OXO brand one, but the reason I purchased this one over the Oxo is because of the green sliding pit remover. The slider allows you to depit any size seed inside the avocado by sliding the green piece forward until it wedges into the pit. The pit is sandwiched between the two sharp sets of teeth, give it a twist, and you're done! So easy! The slider part also comes all the way out for easy cleaning. The slicer is sharp and cuts great and comes with a sheath for shielding the blade during storage. Scooper on the other end does exactly what it should too.I knocked 1 start off because the tool is a bit clunky/awkward shaped... Its long (about 11 inches) and weighted where if you're not placing this on top of a flat surface it doesn't just sit, it will rotate until it settles. If I have avocado remains on both ends of the tool, this can get messy. I might need to place it on a spoon rest. But this is not a deal breaker. I've depitted plenty of avocados using only a knife without struggle, but this tool definitely simplifies the job. Worth the buy!

Doesn't work well

I have had this tool for about 2 weeks and I have used it on 6-8 Avocados. It does exactly as illustrated in the pictures. I have found it to be very nice to use. Normally I would have used a knife, spoon and fork just to prepare the Avocados. Having just one tool to do the job is great. The best part is the sliding pit remover which adjusts and grips any size pit. I have had no problems with it sliding out when I don't need it too. It clicks back into place when not it use or you can slide it completely out for cleaning. In the description it says "The cutting blade, scooper and masher are elevated by design so that you can put it down on your counter or work space without worrying about making a mess." I hadn't really noticed this feature so I had to check it out. It is indeed as described, Yet another plus for this product! I use Avocados frequently, so this was worth the price paid for me.

The only okay thing about this little "device" is it only saves time from having to use a knife to cut the avocado. .then to take pit out...then grabbing a spoon to scoop it out. Just glad I Didn't blow alot of $$ on this. It'll be added to the "Why did I get this...& ... Guess what this Is Drawer. Wasted $... Best to Save for Already made guacamole. And, I should know. ..I'm A Chef! Oops! On Your. ..the creators end! Best of luck.
