If you have a pimple that needs to be dried up quickly, this works incredibly well. The bottom layer of the bottle reminds me of the old fashioned pink calamine lotion that used to be used on chicken pox and poison ivy, with the clear layer being something like rubbing alcohol. My only complaint is that the bottle is a bit too tall for a Q-tip/cotton swab, so I can see myself losing one in it and not being able to get it out.The product does exactly what it’s supposed to do, so expect that anything it’s applied to WILL be dried out.The patches work like any other pimple patch, and totally meet expectations, but the drying lotion is the MVP here. I don’t know that I’d use them in combination - I feel the patches are for minor annoyances, while the drying lotion is suited for moderate-to-epic situations that you want to banish quickly and will deal with the flaky skin as it happens.So long as I have to deal with pimples, I’ll keep this drying lotion in my medicine cabinet, it’s fantastic stuff!

Mario Badescu’s Drying Lotion definitely looks like it should pack a punch — it’s loaded with salicylic acid, sulfur, and zinc oxide, so I expected a fast, heavy-hitting spot treatment. The formula has a really strong, almost medicinal smell (not exactly pleasant, but it makes you feel like it’s “doing something”).That said, for all the actives in here, the results weren’t as dramatic as I hoped. It helps a little with calming down surface blemishes, but it doesn’t magically erase them overnight or stop new ones from forming. With this much going on in the bottle, I thought it would be more effective. Decent to have on hand, but definitely not a cure-all. It does flake a bit overnight and you have to sleep on your back or else it might rub off on your pillow cases. FWIW it often gets mixed up in the bottle and you have to let it settle back into two parts. Lasts a long time, but I think they advertise this (even in the product name) as this magic bullet that clears you up overnight. It helps for sure, but not an overnight cure-all.
