Size Matters
I am relatively new to light modification and actively working with shaping light and shadow for portrait photography (I predominately photographed sports, action, and wildlife). Most of us starting out in this area hear of the benefits of a 5-in-1 reflector for helping, to some degree, block or bounce light. I've owned the product a month, but used it several times a week to practice. I had read many negative reviews on-line about many 5-in-1 reflectors of many manufacturers, including this one, but decided it was worth the "investment". I can't speak to durability yet, but I can say I've had no issues with taking the reflector out or putting it away. Once you master the hand position (one turned out, one turned in) and the "twisting" motion, getting the reflector to fold in on itself is very quick. It took me less than 3 minutes the first time. People have complained about the zipper on the soft case used to store it or the zipper of the material to go around the reflector itself. To this I would say, you are zipping a round surface - notoriously perilous for zippers, so go slow and be careful to align the edges. It's been fine thus far for me. Now, to the reflector itself: 1. Translucent "reflector" is nice and big and provides an effective way to block some direct sunlight or strobe from striking the subject (i.e. scrim). 2. White reflector: Essential a bounce to provide fill light or main light for subjects. 3. Silver reflector: To provide a more specular contrasty look (i.e. beauty lighting). Some would probably say it would be a bit better if textured, but I have nothing to compare it with at this point. 4. Black "reflector": As a new photographer, this term doesn't make much sense to me. To me, the job of a black surface is to absorb light and either act as a flag (block light from hitting the subject) or create "negative" fill - slightly darken shadows. I have not measured how much the Neewer Black reflector actually reflects light, but let's hope it's not much. 5. Gold reflector: Used to warm skin tones or the image. I have tested it out on a mannequin, but not used it on people yet. I've had no issues using this product to date - but have no experience using other similar products from other companies. It has provided value for money thus far, and I believe it will last if taken care of. I'll be back to write another review if it does not.

Great addition to my video equipment.
These work great for casting light and shades of light wherever you may need them on or around your model.

For its price for a 43" reflector...it is sturdy, portable and worth the money!
I have been wanting to get a reflector and have debated to go cheap or go expensive but in the end, I decided that as my money goes to lenses, flashes, strobe studio lights, there are priority purchases and purchases that I have to keep under budget. The reflector was under $15 and looking for similar sizes online, some charge quite a bit for it. So, the big question that you may be wondering...do you actually get what you're paying for?My answer is that for $15, this is an excellent, sturdy and also portable reflector. It comes with its own bag and there are no instructions. And if you accidentally thrash one, no problem...easier to replace because of its cheaper price than thrashing a more expensive one.But if you have put away a windshield reflector and know how to bend/fold one, then you know how to put this one away. If anything, just make sure that you get it inside without it being caught on a zipper (this doesn't just apply to this product, this can apply to jackets with zippers, CD/DVD binders, etc.).So, you get a translucent reflector, silver, gold, white and black and each reflector is its own bag. And once again, these are sturdy. I don't know about the others who gave it a negative but I haven't had any problems with them and let's say, even if I do, down the line....years later, it is less than $15.I know how some of you may be thinking...well, I love the price and it has received considerable good reviews but maybe I should buy one with a stand and reflector holder. If you have the $70 to blow on one, go for it! But I needed to keep things under budget and with the reflector going in my budget list, I will tell you that in my studio, it's being held by one of my expensive mic stands with a clamp (there are many examples on line of DYI reflector holders). Because this certain reflector is huge and a little heavy for the boom arm, I have three sandbags holding the boom arm on the other end to balance the weight, so it works perfectly.JUDGMENT CALL:For the price of this 43" reflector and the fact that it has 5-in-1, you can't really go wrong with it unless you start tearing into it. Once again, personally for me, there are other items in my studio that are priority when it comes to money...glass, multiple flashes, lights, softboxes, more stands or a full-frame camera, etc. And I needed one that doesn't break the bank and fit my budget, as well as something I can make it easy enough for DYI setup and for less than $15 and the fact that it is 43" and well-constructed and most of all...it works.Overall, Neewer's 43" 110 cm multi-disc reflector for me... it's perfect. For others, if you are on a budget...this is the one to get!
