can I add other cameras

Yes, I currently have 6 D-Link cameras throughout my house, inside and out -- different models, but all D-Link. I use the free mydlink app on my iPhone and can also access them on my laptop through a web browser. Everyone in the family has the app and can view the cameras remotely as well. The Motion Sensor feature sends alerts to my phone; it can easily be turned on or off as needed. I tried at least five other brands over the past several years before settling on D-Link because they just work! They are the easiest to setup -- just plug it in, follow the setup wizard, and they just work (Worst case, you might have to do the wizard a couple times). This is not a paid review -- I'm just a fan and I've been frustrated by other cameras. I use these multiple times every day to check on my house, pets, family, etc. they provide great peace of mind. My oldest D-Link has been running 24/7/365 since 2013 and my newest for over a year. I'm leaving this answer while buying a 7th camera for the garage.

Can you get it to send a text with video or call your phone if it senses movement? Don't want to have emails pushed all the time, nuisance.

I'm sure this response is late but here you go. There may be a way for it to send text messages but the methods I've tried didn't work. In your configuration settings, where you enter your email SMTP, you can try to put your cell phone carriers text message email address. For example, I have AT&T and theirs is your "phonenumber@mms.att.net" but it didn't work for me. I'm no tech genius and chose DLINK for its configuration ease over Foscam or other name brands so their may be another way. Sorry for not being zoo helpful :/

Can the recordings be sent to my PC to be saved to the harddrive?

This may be a question for D-link, however, I did find in the manual the following:"D-link provides software (D-view cam) and hardware (NVR's) solitions for advanced users to choose from to manage their cameras and record videos.Depending on the user's needs, 1 or the other solution can be used to supplement their camera system. ... NVRs are standalone storage devices with a powerful embedded system that can record video from up to 9 network cameras located on local or remote sies...video and camera management can be done as needed using any computer attached to the network. So, I assume that if you're recording from your smart device, you can save the video and send it to your computer to be saved on your PC. YOu can also view the camera etc. from your PC with the right account set-upI hope this answers your question.
