A nice cake leveler for the price.
As far as cake levelers go, this has been my favorite to use. I’ve tried all the cheaper ones and hopefully will upgrade to a pricier heavy duty cake leveler someday. For now, this does the trick. It’s really not built to last though, this is the 2nd one I ordered. I had my first one about a year and a half before it broke, so I guess for the price and the usage I got out of it, I’m ok with that. It’s easy to set, use and clean and folds up nicely for storage. For best results, your cakes should be at room temperature. I freeze my cakes after baking then pull them out the next day to assemble, you must allow them to fully thaw before leveling or it will not work properly. There can also be some inconsistency in the level, as you get about halfway through ( especially on larger cakes) sometimes the leveler becomes uneven which causes the cake to be uneven. I chalk this up to the fact that it folds. What I do to prevent this is simply get about half way, then remove the leveler and spin my cake around to do the other half. The cakes usually end up perfectly level.

Why did I wait so long to buy this
I was a pro cake decorator for a couple years and got pretty good at leveling cakes by hand. But 15 years later I'm just a home cook and I didn't have a long enough serrated knife for leveling a bigger cake so I bought this. Damned if it isn't the most useful thing! It does feel a little flimsy so I'm gentle with it but you don't need a lot of muscle to cut cakes and it makes it so very easy to get a cake perfectly level. No more trimming and checking, trimming and checking. One cut and done!

It’s fine but I probably won’t use it much
It works okay. I wouldn’t say it was good or bad necessarily. It just is. I used a bread knife before to level my cakes. I got this because I thought it’d make life easier. I could cut layers and make them the same size easily. I don’t think it really did that. It isn’t hard to clean but you have to be careful and stuff can get stuck in little crevices. It is kind of awkward to hold too when using (at least for an inexperienced cake maker like myself). I think in general I’ll probably just go back to my old bread knife. The layers may not be exactly the same height but it’ll be easier for me to trim. Even though this can help make sure layers are even I don’t think it made it any easier.

So much easier to use than a kitchen knife!
It took me a couple minutes to figure out all the levers on this little thing, but once I did, it was super easy to use. (Note: rarely do I read directions so that might have helped). Anyways, you set your height on the side, adjust the saw up or down, and lock the top in place. That's it! Then, saw the top off your cake and voila, a perfect level cake for layering. I had been using a knife for quite sometime and while I got proficient at eyeballing it, this cake leveler just makes it ten times easier. Pro or novice, this cake leveler works perfectly and can help you speed up your cake decorating. Highly recommend!

This was the WORST PURCHASE EVER
This was the WORST PURCHASE EVER. complete pile of garbage and I can't even return the darn thing. The center metal part is so flimsy its not a straight piece of metal. it bends and makes slicing the cake so difficult. the legs, even though they are locked fall and then your cake ends up lopsided. It's cheap and made poorly. I was better off leveling the cake with a knife which I ended up doing because this thing just ruined the cake I was making. Honestly, don't waste your money. it's not worth your time or aggravation. I just wish I could get my money back. UGH. If I could give this no stars, I would give it -100 stars.

Not bad, if you know how to use it
This cake leveler gets the job done, it's easy to use and leaves your cake perfectly flat. I've read some reviews here saying that the blade is flimsy, and while that is true, it will definitely cut through your cake with ease. With the cake on a flat surface move the blade side to side as you go along to cut the cake, letting the blade do the work. Look on youtube for helpful videos of others using the leveler, definitely WORTH IT. Also, $5 cheaper on Amazon than at crafts stores, win!

Levelling a cake
Great product in theory. Am yet to make a level cut through a cake.I'm hoping practice will prove that it works. Cuts really well, but has a tendency to cut on an angle.

Love it
When I first got this in the mail I thought I had ordered the wrong thing in the description was wrong. But I took it out of the package and saw that it fold in half for storage lol each leg has a dial so you know you are equal on both sides. Super easy to use and the serrated blades cut better than just a plain wire
