The Real Deal
Although I am new at candle making, the beeswax looks, smells, melts, and sets like good beeswax should. One thing I've learned: Being a natural product, some slight variations in color and aroma are to be expected and, in my opinion, a sign that the merchant is sending the real deal. When straining the wax, it seemed to be more free of pollen/other natural material than other wax. My candles poured beautifully. Also, a good price and prompt delivery. Ordering more now. Pic: (Not bad for a beginner !)

Love it, couldn't ask for anything more!
I've read some negative reviews about odors with this beeswax but I have been nothing but happy with it. I've purchased 6 pounds so far in a mix of white and yellow, and while the yellow has varied in color from batch to batch, that doesn't bother me at all. I would say this beeswax is top quality....no strange smells, no debris in it...and it makes phenomenal candles and bath/body products. Love it and will continue to order as long as it's available.

Bad smell
Not happy at all with this. As soon as I opened the box I smelled a foul scent, like burnt rubber. I am allergic to latex and I stArted experiencing the same symptoms as if I were exposed to latex, my skin is now raw, had to take a shower, put on medicine, and use an inhaler. Very disappointed. I know bees wax can absorb other odors and it seems this absorbed the scent of rubber tires. Will not buy again.

Made tapers with 15 summer campers. They loved it!!!
I purchased 2 lbs and made candles with a youth group with this. It smelled kinda bad at first, but once it was heated--it smelled fine. How many candles could you make with it? I started by melting it in a large coffee can and it melted down to about 4 inches. Too short for a candle. SO I poured it into a smaller coffee tin and it fit perfectly. I had a class of 15 kids, and each one made one taper candle, and they were about 5 inches long once we cut the weight off of the bottom (a small bolt or washer). I was still left with a ton of wax. So if you can hit thrift stores and find a long and skinny metal container, that would yield the best candles< OR use molds or just pour it into a container with a wick. The hemp wicks I used were excellent from bee wick--I could do the whole activity again. I do not think one lb would work for dipping unless you had a really narrow container. we tied loops at the top and put a chopstick through it so the kids didn't get burned and then we hung it between 2 rulers suspended on the seats of 2 classroom chairs. The kids LOVED it. PS--I tried the pinterest dollar tree and crayon candle making idea and it was HORRIFIC!!!!!!!! If you are going to do candles, just bite the bullet and get beeswax.

This is the worst beeswax I have used in the last 2 years of working with Beeswax. It was very difficult to melt, smelled terrible, then after completely melting, it reformed into pellets after making my body butter. And the lip balm I tried to make, had a very bitter after taste which resulted in my getting a bad review on my Etsy page. I will order from Bulk Apothecary from now on for Beeswax.
