Hello, Not waterproof.. there will be problems if moisture gets into the charging point

Does it have to go on the roof like it says? How would that charge? I think more realistic on the dash board and will charge better

I bought two, placed them on the dash and they work well but one is not holding charge as long as the other now. I take into the house to recharge. They may recharge from car but I have not tried this yet to avoid any further drain on car battery? Hope this helps?

does it come on at night when you are driving as dont want to be stopped by the police because it showing a red light blinking when driving ?

There is an on/off switch so you can turn it on when you need it to work. It charges by solar power, and only flashes when the outside light level drops even when switched on. But you can turn it off when you don’t need it to flash. I have the blue version, it is a very effective deterrent.

is it advisable to leave this plugged into the car as mine is not in a good position to get sun ?

Not sure add leave mine on charge, charge it and the blinker will last for days
