A Controller That’s Hard to Put DownOUYA’s Bluetooth controller will feel immediately familiar, and extraordinary. Hold it and enjoy its weight and balance. The aluminum faceplates are cool to the touch and fully customizable (they’re removable). We’ve tried to build the fastest, most precise game controller around. And it has one special bonus -- a touchpad for another way to control things.Connect up to four (4) controllers to any OUYA and play with your friends, or those randoms who keep coming over, from the comfort of your couch.

A decent quality controller
From my experience, I would say that this controller definitely feels lower quality than either a PS3 or 360 controller. The other issue I've noticed a number of times is laggy communication between the controller and the OUYA, though to be honest, I'm not sure if its the fault of the controller or the console itself. That being said, I would say that the controller is still quite decent. I think that as time progresses, I have noticed the issue of laggy input, less and less. I'm not sure if this is due to console firmware updates or due to me changing my play style. I think having a second controller for the OUYA is almost a requirement. If had the opportunity to rethink my purchase of this controller and the associated console, I think that go ahead and get them again anyhow. The games are casual, fun, and affordable, which really works with the quantity of free time I have available for gaming these days.

Not sure why so negative
This is a fantastic controller. First the steel grips feel very cold when you first pick it up, which I like. The analog sticks are a little loose for me, I prefer a little more resistance. The touch pad in the center is my favorite part. I don't see why every controller doesn't include one of those! The use of AA batteries is a bit of a letdown because I prefer the built in rechargeable types but honestly I've had the controller 6 months and put a ton of hours into it and still haven't changed the batteries. The shoulder buttons do make a squeaky sound when you press them. It does sound cheap but haven't had any issues with it. Also as far as buttons sticking, I had it happen the very first time I played with it, and it hasn't happened since (and I play lots of shooters).Just to note I'm a gamer since the 80's so I've played with a ton of a controllers. Sure this might not surpass the Saturn or Genesis 6 button controller, but I like it slightly better than the xbox 360 (for the d-pad) and comparable to the PS3 controller, though the analog sticks are better on that.

I love the idea of a controller for the OUYA but hate the design and lag from these controllers
So it's a double edged sword here. This controller works great don't get me wrong. For browsing movies and tv shows via xbmc on my OUYA it's perfect. It just stinks for gaming which I do not really do all that much. However, when gaming with these "all OUYA controllers" there is a weird lag issue where the controller will move in directions of it's own for sporadic 3 to 6 seconds. Or it will randomly press up or down and hold it for 3 to 6 seconds. If you're experiencing any of these issues, this controller will not fix this problem. Setup and RMA with Ouya support and they will flash firmware update the controller to a new version that supposedly fixes this issue, however it still does it just not nearly as often. I'm convinced that it is wifi interference that causes this because the internal Blue-Tooth and wifi antennas are underpowered. My PS3 controllers NEVER have lag in my house or do anything wonky. These controllers seem to be affected by 2.4Ghz wireless signals even though they're blue-tooth. crappy design.

Poor Quality Control
I should start by saying that I love OUYA and what it could do, but the build quality of their controllers is really poor. The controller that came with the unit works ok but the second one I bought (this one) has a shoddy d-pad and button triggers. The thumb sticks on both as well as the shoulder/trigger button squeak. I don't mind the battery covers, like some people comment about. It makes for a fairly easy battery replacement and the colored covers you can buy, that I wish amazon carried, are pretty nice.Aside from those things I do like their controllers. They feel nice in the hand and have a good weight to them. If I were to do it again though I'd probably just order a new PS3 controller as those work with it as well. You lose the touchpad, but that isn't a big deal most of the time. Curious if the PS4 controller would work.

A strong controller
I can safely say that the worst part about the OUYA controller is replacing the batteries. Seriously, it runs on two AA batteries, one located in each of the grips, and with no clear way to remove the plating on the grip I had to google instructions the first time I had to replace them. Otherwise it is a very smooth controller; the buttons dont stick and and the joy sticks are fluid and it bears a nice weight. It has a certain similarity to the 360 controller, which is a good thing, but with enough to make it stand out as its own thing.

I love the OUYA
I love the OUYA. It will provide countless weeks of entertainment. However this controller is a bit silly in that the buttons stick from time to time and you can't be particularly far away from the head unit if you have an older/original silver Ouya model. Don't buy these stick with the newer darker color models. From a technical perspective the most silly element is that the version of the firmware shipped in Sept 2014 is still 0x0103 which is what was shipped during the first rollout of the Ouya. (0x0104 is what they update you to if you ship them the controllers)

The controller itself is great...
I gave this 5 stars because I really like the Ouya and I think it has a great controller too. My only complaint is with it being powered by two AA batteries...I almost gave it less stars though because when I got the controller, the case it comes in was quite dirty and scratched up, and looked like it might've been opened before, when it was supposed to be brand new. Very disappointed with this, but I meticulously looked over the controller itself and it looked fine, so I decided to keep it instead of sending it back for another one because I didn't want to hassle with it frankly. I haven't had any problems with it either, so overall I am satisfied.

Good controller overall
Good controller overall. I don't recommend the metal ones, because the mettle wears away material in the sticks and will eventually ruin them. Snap some thick O-rings from the hardwear store over the heads of the sticks and you won't have to worry about it.

It's true this pad is not the best but try playing Beach Buggy Blitz or Dark Moor ...
It's true this pad is not the best but try playing Beach Buggy Blitz or Dark Moor Manor with any other pad on your TV screen and it's no go. Software fixes have made this controller a lot better the touch pad is flaky but it does its job and provides great convenience with touch only games like Madcatz contrlr in mouse mode achieves. The sticks may be a little stiff for some but they are pretty accurate and centre well. Button presses are positive and debounce is prompt they feel good. Generally this pad feels evenly weighted and balanced in the hand overall this pad works better with a sizeable minority of games than DS3 so it's worth having oh and like ctrlr the battery life is phenomenal North of 50 or 60 hours!

Only good for Ouya
Pros:-Stylish Look-Nice Brushed metal design-Works okay with Ouya consoleCons:-Requires a rooted Android device to use-Key mapping was created by a mad man-Noticable Input lag-Seems and joins on pad seem to be raised and razor into your hands after a little whileOnly get it if your original controller breaks

OUYA Controller - As you'd want!
Works like a charm with the OUYA with no real setup needed. Feels good in the hand, I enjoy the console!
