Excellent Low-Cost EDC Knife
UPDATED REVIEW: I broke the tip off the blade almost a year ago. The knife remains a part of my EDC, but only as necessary now, especially since I have a Leatherman and another pocket knife, in addition to this one. I broke the tip trying to open an in-ground electrical box with the blade, since that's all I had available to me. Needless to say, I was upset, but it was three years old at that point and had definitely received a significant amount of use by that point. I've thought about having the tip redone so I could still use it safely, perhaps as a tanto instead of a drop point. But still, at this price, I'm seriously considering buying this again. Still the best knife I've ever owned for daily duty. Oh, and for everyone who is worried about the cautions against buying it because of the incredibly stiff action, as an owner of this knife for the last four years, I can safely say that the action does in fact loosen up over time, and within three months of my owning it, it was significantly easier to open. I don't mind the stiffer feel as it does offer a buffer against it coming open in your pocket (and makes it more difficult for children to open it). And about those thumb studs: they're small and sharp, but you won't notice that when you develop calluses from opening the knife routinely.Best knife I've owned yet. Easy to open, easy to close, smooth operation. It deploys quickly, which is great when you need it in a hurry. Its slim profile helps it fit in almost any pocket comfortably, which is a plus for me because I wear dress pants a lot, and those smaller pockets and closer fit make carrying a pocket knife somewhat challenging. The blade maintains a sharp edge for an extended period without needing to resharpen, and the serrations are great for those tough-to-cut spots. It arrived in brand new packaging, as described by the seller. This is my go-to knife, and I'll buy it again if my current unit ever breaks or fails completely.

Excellent Bang for the Buck
I've always been a Gerber Knife fan... so I went into this purchase slightly more than biased. When looking at knives that were around the same price range, I couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger on buying/trying any of the other brand options. Reading reviews for this knife is like almost any other product where brand quality & loyalty is a very distinct line in the sand. My bias and affinity for Gerber won out and I chose this one over similarly priced/featured knives. After having this knife for a few months now, I experienced some of the similar "drawbacks*" that other users also encountered. With that said, none of them have deterred me from giving this knife a stellar review.Out of the box the assisted opening feature sticks, like many people mentioned. This does go away after a few hundred openings. Going into buying this I knew this was a possible issue so I started "breaking it in" pretty early. I noticed that while doing this that it would actually start sticking more. Which makes sense because after repeated openings & closings the metal will start to heat up and expand a little. It helps to work through this period. It may require a second hand but in the end its worth it, as now the assisted opening works like a charm. The only times I notice any issue is if I've had the knife in my pocket and its warm or humid out, but never enough to cause me to question the purchase. The thumb studs are nice but took a little getting used to. They are smaller and if you're used to large thumb studs it will feel "off" for that breaking in period. The handle is thin. Much thinner than I expected. I was a little worried when I first picked it up. I have slightly large hands and thinner knives usually are hard to hold and use without having to hold it in an inconvenient way. But, it actually sits really well in the palm and the G10 texture is a really nice feature. The pocket clip is sturdy and quite stout. A little difficult sliding it onto the pocket edge but once it's on there it's very secure. The only thing I miss on this knife that I have on other similar knives is a safety lock. With that said though, the assisted opening takes a considerable amount of force to flip open, and I've never been worried our concerned that it would "pop" open in my pocket. As mentioned in others comments, the blade may not be the highest grade material, but it is quite sharp (as sharp as some very high quality blades I've owned before from Benchmade) out of the box and easily honed after some use and dulling. The serrated portion is a nice added feature and useful for tackling rope and whatever needs sawed throughI really enjoy this knife a lot. For the price and the features this is a great purchase.

Great Idea, Disappointing
I currently own a Gerber Bear Grylls Scout Drop Point Knife and this is my baseline for comparison. The size of the blade and handle is exactly the same. The handle of this one is light and hard but the grip is a little less than desirable. The blade has a nice coating but we'll have to see how it holds up with time and usage. The thumb stud is quite rough and not as comfortable as the Bear Grylls. The real disappointing part of this knife and the main reason I am giving this knife a 3-star is because the Assist Opening is hard to open. I'm sure that it will take time to break it in but compared to Grylls, it is almost impossible to open. If the thumb stud was more comfortable, it would make it easier to work on familiarizing oneself with the mechanics of the knife. To be fair, I have only single-hand opened the knife about 50 times. I will revisit this review if the knife shows improvement, otherwise get the Gerber Bear Grylls Drop Point Scout Knife (which comes in 3 different sizes, I own the medium and large one, which I love). In Addition:A few hours of playing around with it has loosened up the opening mechanism and the grip of the handle does feel better when your palm is moist. I have given the knife an extra star but don't believe it will be worth 5-stars
