I have performed all of my bicycle maintenance myself for decades. It's not overly complicated and quite satisfying, however brake and shifter cables are an often overlooked element of bicycle maintenance. They perform an important function for many years and often perform well with years of neglect, but this is not how they should be treated. The degradation in performance it's so slow that it's easy to overlook as the cause of poor shifting and poor braking. I recently purchased these cables in an effort to improve the shifting on several of my bikes. These cables arrived quickly and I could notice immediately that they seemed to be of a very high quality and we're offered at an extremely reasonable price. With proper tools, installation is very straightforward. New cable housings and cable ends are also an important part of this procedure to ensure that the job is properly done, and these I also purchased on Amazon. Several cable ends and housing ends, as well as small silicone "donuts" to eliminate cable rattle against the bike frame are included with the cables. The cables arrive in two different lengths, to accommodate the front and rear derailleurs. A light coat of grease can help ensure smooth operation and help prevent rust for many years. I have purchased this product multiple times and will continue to do so in the future. All this and very reasonable price.

I commute (a lot) on a vintage bike with an old eight speed thumb shifted rear drive train with a triple thumb shifted crankset up front.I go through a lot of shift cables due to rubbing and increased wear on the cables at the "bend" inside the Sun Tour XC Expert thumbies. I carry a spare one of these shift cables with me and just thread it in and tighten it down on the road whenever one gives out. They are well priced, durable, easy to install thru the cable housing, with the these wire's finished closed (braised) and tapered feeder end.

My BikeYoke dropper seat cable failed after a year and a half of pretty heavy use. This cable set came with everything needed. It was a simple matter to pull the broken cable and insert the new one into the cable housing to get it from the handlebar to the seat post.This set should also work great for any non-hydraulic brake cable replacement as well. Comes with all of the end pieces you would need. The only thing not included in this is the cable housing, but it is unusual to have to replace that.
