What is an Angel grinder? Is that a brand name, or does an angel come down and do the grinding for you?

In my opinion, it is a 90* grinder which allows a flat surface to be sanded from a lateral position. I used this product to sand 50 years of paint off 4'X8', wooden porch screens. This conversion took a mundane turn of the century house porch and transformed it into a hybrid French/New Orleans look of gorgeous proportions. This was developed by the legendary Dee Stein of Neenah Wisconsin. Unfortunately, nobody had done proper service for 50 years and a deep layered collage of lead based and oil based paints covered the wood. The angle grinder has allowed me to lay these giant panels down and protectively sand the units down to the wood. Then I could repair the Dowling's and rescreen and repaint same. My experience says the 4-1/2 inch, (PURPLE) discs are best. They last longest and really eat up the still pliable paint elastics. PS: please use breathing protection (lead paints) and eye protection.
