Best slow cooker i've ever owned + my favorite cobbler recipe.
I absolutely love this crock pot. I'd had my old one so long that you literally couldn't see the setting indicators for the knob and it wasn't quite getting up to temperature anymore so I figured it was time to upgrade. SOOO happy I did. The controls are VERY easy to use and I love that when you hit the low/med/high settings it gives you a recommended time, but you can still dial that up or down as you like. The fact that this has an automatic timer and will auto-matically switch to keep warm mode for several hours afterward was a HUGE plus for me. I routinely cook overnight so that I can get up in the morning and box up some lunch from whatever I was cooking and then reset the keep warm feature so that it's ready for dinner that night when i get home. This is INCREDIBLY CONVENIENT!The lid fits well and I love the offset handles. They're always cool so you can easily pick it up and move it even when it's hot. This DOES get very warm to the touch on the outside... but it's a slow cooker. That's to be expected imo. The feet are non-skid so it stays where you put it and the stainless on the inside and out is very easy to clean up, literally just wipe it down. The ceramic insert is heavy duty and well made. I expect to get years of service out of this. Also, slow cooker liners for the win. I'll never cook without a liner again. :)Here's my favorite easy cobbler recipe for crock pot:Pour 4-6 cans of pie filling in the bottom. Caramel apple or sliced peaches work great, but blueberry or blackberry would be awesome too. Then top the filling with 1 box of dry white cake mix and top that with 1 stick of unsalted butter cut into slices and stuck into the cake mix. Come back in a few hours and you have an AWESOME cobbler. GREAT for taking to pot lucks or family gathering.Extra awesome cobbler: Use the same basic procedure above but this time you're going to make an even better dough topping. Mix the white cake mix and butter up with 1/2 a box of crushed graham crackers, 2-3 tbs of vanilla extract and 1 cup of apple juice. Then use that as the topping, or better yet, bury the dough in layers of fruit filling so that it gets hydrated from the top and bottom. It's AMAZINGLY GOOD.If making apple cobbler try mixing in 1/2 a cup of fresh grated parmesan cheese. It goes WONDERFULLY with apples. You'd be amazed.

High Tech, High Quality, Good Looking, Large Slow Cooker
Was going to spend 2x the amount and buy the ceph brand but chose this one to save some money. Not sure on the other one but this Frigidare unit is THE ONE TO BUY. Its top notch on its high tech features, High Quality build and componants, easy to use, and looks great. It has a huge size oval shape ceramic pot that is thick and can take a beating. If you need bigger than this one then you really need two slow cookers - Really. The digital display is bright and easy to read from across the room. Food is cooked perfectly and the added temp settings are interesting and we will try them soon. Some have complained about the full metal handles getting hot but I disagree, they do warm up but they are ok to use. Whats great about the handles is that they are really strong, sturdy, and permenently rivied on the main unit never to come loose or break up like plastic/composite. Some talk about a strange need to unplug the unit to change settings - NOPE - go back to your wood stoves Grandpa leave the electronics to the youngsters! There is a small hole in the glass cover for a 3rd party heat sensor that has nothing to do with the slow cooker itself (not an extra, or optional accesssory).Overall this slow cooker is a huge value and will be a great addition to your kitchen. We have had it for 2 months now and use it every week sometimes twice a week. I hope its quality feel makes it a long life item but in todays world you never know. Bottom line - GO OUT AND GET THESE BEFORE THEY ARE ALL GONE FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON!

Frigidaire Slow Cooker
I researched many slow cookers, reading reviews, asking other owners about what they like about theirs. Price was not a major concern in my case, so I looked at far more expensive ones than this one.I considered the one which you could use right on the cooktop for searing meat. However, was not pleased with the idea of a non stick layer, which apparently had peeling issues as well.I checked out many of them in stores. Another concern I had was the glass lid, and the screw to hold the handle in place. I read many reviews where the screw started rusting and dripping rust into the meal. When I purchased this one, now 2 years ago, I wasn't sure what to expect as there weren't many reviews at the time.I was extremely pleased when it arrived, the lid fit well on the insert, the insert looked beautiful, ceramic and the options for settings were more than sufficient for my needs.I have used this one off and on for the past 2 years. I love the large capacity, but have also cooked smaller meals in it without a problem (as long as you have enough liquid). I use it mainly for beef stew and beans.Having said that, I do get the same results with my old cast iron pot and low temperature oven, but I still like my slow cooker as well.I would buy this one again. After 2 years, it still looks very good although I do not wash it in the dishwasher. I hand wash and dry both lid and insert (and it only takes a minute or less)Highly recommended!Jan 2016: I have had this one for 4 years now and use it weekly, mostly in winter. Still love it and still works fantastic. No regrets.

Everything I wanted!
My old slow-cooker cooked too hot. I couldn't trust it over the course of a whole day of work; also, it only had a two-hour keep warm setting. The Frigidaire Professional is WONDERFUL. It cooks exactly as it ought to and the four-hour keep-warm setting means that any recipe I care to try will still be warm when we hit the house. This not only makes for wonderful meals but it means I can get my toddler to bed early enough to actually have some evening time to myself even on work days. I LOVE it.

Do Your Research
I truly don't know I bought this item as a gift. I love cooking in a crock pot. I do wonder about the ceramic insert as my old crock pot has a very heavy indestructible insert and not sure how these new ceramic inserts will hold up. Also how will the display cooking control pad hold up. If the ceramic cracks or the display pad fails.....you have nothing. New is not always better. My crock old pot has an on/off...high/low turn nob and is at least 25 years old and still going strong. They still make them with the type of insert I use today...I would look for that in a new one as well as a simple control cooking nob

I do a lot of slow cooker cooking and find ...
I do a lot of slow cooker cooking and find this one doesn't get to a high enough temperature to actually work properly for stews, pot roasts, etc. Did cabbage rolls and they were still a hard. Meat never breaks down. Avoid this product.

Good value and good unit
Purchased a number of diff ones and returned for various reasons. I do like this one. I like the fact that the timer goes up to 12 hours where most are 6 maximum. I made a stew on med heat and cooked the meat overnight, it never burned the liquid to the side of the pot, then in the morn added my precut veggies etc and put it on low for 10 hrs while at work, when I got home all was ready to go. The handles get a little warm, but even when you have it on high, you can lift it without oven mitts. Its a large cooker which is what I like The lid fits good which was a concern on others, you need some looseness so that it can vent, but not enough that your liquid evaporates while cooking. all round this is a good unit for the money.
