Downy Fresh Protect Active Fresh with Febreze Odor Defense In-Wash Scent Beads, 19.5 OZ

The brand of our HE clothes washer is notorious for causing clothes to smell of mildew when items are not pulled out soon after the end of the wash cycle. In the heat of summer, even a few hours make a difference. Some items that I've left overnight have had to be tossed despite rewashing them. Neither commercial products or home remedies have worked, with the exception of vinegar. Although it works, the amount of vinegar necessary to eliminate the mildew smell, leaves the clothes strongly smelling of vinegar; better than mildew, but not much. Downy Fresh Protect is the first product I've tried that works completely. I tried it first with clothes previously mildewed, clothes that I was ready to toss out because I'd given up on ever getting the stink out. They came out of their first Downy Fresh Protect wash without a trace of offensive odor. One wash did what multiple previous washes could not. I'm SO sold on this product and recommend it as anyone's best bet to get out lingering smells.

Wow. A new product. Thought I'd try it. Works great. I love the Fresh Scent. Not over-powering to me, but definitely there. I use it on my bathroom linens (makes the bathroom smell great, too), my clothes (underwear and jeans and shirts), and my sheets and pillow cases. I use one full capful of the beads per wash. I've only used it for a month. I feel like its a back-up in case my deodorant doesn't take care of all the sweat and odors that come from being a man living in NYC with all the humidity, stress, hot-ass sidewalks from the a/c units blowing hot air on you and the cars and buses heating up the concrete. Lol. I intend to use this stuff on my clothes and linens. A new product. Somebody had their thinking cap on at Downy.

My favorite between the two of the blue and green. I don't like the smell of the green one at all. But this one is really nice and it does last longer than other brands.*FYI if you every see a review that says they received an item FREE in exchange for a review DO NOT TRUST IT! These people are asked to LIE. I know because I use to receive these items and they told me POINT BLANK never to post a bad reviews. I asked to be remove from the program. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE ITEMS. I BOUGHT THIS, and I am happy with this item.

At first I thought these scent booster things were stupid, because it's just a scent and as long as it smells clean who cares? But, after getting a dog, let me tell you: SCENT BOOSTERS ARE A GOD SEND. We use them for the blankets and towels that our dog sleeps on, and everything smells so much cleaner for so much longer. The scent is so nice and fresh, and I've started using it for my clothes and bedsheets too just so I can smell it more. I know I'm being hyperbolic, but seriously, this stuff is excellent.

After reading all of the reviews, I tried it anyway-- I have been using Downy products forever, and love the Unstoppables. I couldn't believe that this new product seeming so wonderful from the ads could have an unpleasant smell. Unfortunately I have to agree with the other negative reviews--- it truly made my bedding smell as if cats had peed on them!!! I have a 5yr old Kenmore HE front load washer, and I washed the comforters in cold water as usual, but with the in-wash product instead of my unstoppables. Really nasty smell!! If I didn't know better I would have thought I might have forgot to add detergent--- it has happened before. The comforters smelled better before I washed them!! I'm curious as to why there is such a drastic difference in customers experience using this product. Possibly the type of washer, water temp, type of detergent, etc. make a difference???? In any case, I will continue to use and love my Downy products---- except for this one!!

I like this stuff. Gave 4 stars because Gain still smells better and stronger. If you want something not as strong i would recommend this for sure. I just tend to prefer stronger smelling scents for my laundry.

Not as natural smelling as I’d hope but I’ve used these in our closet ( by putting them in small satchels and hang them) to freshen it up which it does do very well. Very potent.

If you are in a complex and you are concerned that any odors that might be lurking from the washer might transfer to your clothes, then this is what you need to order. That has become a new issue that started popping up where I live and this was suggested you me. Very good. Dont use too much of it and use only with fragrance free detergent if you want to maximize smell.

Use this for my towels to help keep the sour smell at bay. I don't use the recommended dosage as it can be very strong.

I've been using in-wash scent boosters for a a few months now, and I'm hooked. Honestly, I can't go without them anymore.This one is without a doubt the best I've tried to date. The "sporty" scent is just too good, and I find that it really does keep my clothes smelling heavenly for at least two weeks after using.Since my clothes smell better, they seem cleaner, therefore I do laundry even less than before.I fully recommend this for people who want to keep their clothes smelling... well, delicious. That's the best way to put it.

These are great for the clothes you don't wear everyday and for the ones you do if you want a bit of scent to clean up your own smell. For the clothes you don't wear all the time they come out of the closet smelling clean and fresh.

I used these ones to go in little organza baggies and tied them underneath my vents in the house so when my furnace came on, it made my house smell nice.

Just love using this, long lasting scents I need to use very small amount
