Amazing pad for fighting games.
I play Tekken and this is perfect. The D-pad clicks when you press and let go. It gives a good confirmation feeling. The buttons are the opposite. No clicks just a smooth press. It's basically the opposite of a normal pad. This is great for fighting games in particular. Its light muchthan a normal pad. Its perfect for claw grip of course. And right now its the only fight pad that has a audio input. The one thing i think they can definitely improve on is the R2 and L2 buttons. They're designed like how you would hold it normally. However in claw grip its a little off. They should just make the R2 and L2 buttons the same as the L1 and R1 buttons. That way you can press them easier. They need to be longer not wider.I understand the problem with the d pad not having a pivot to prevent misinputs. However you can get around it by using the d pad more precisely and honestly you should learn to play more precisely. In fact this pad in general helps you play more precisely.Lastly I want to talk about the lack of analogs. Because of this you can't play any games that require them. (FPS) It would be interesting if they added them. It would reach more consumers. However even if they did, it wouldn't be as good as a normal pad with analogs. You would have to make room on this pad by moving the buttons more to the right. Width wise it would work, but this would also make the pad longer. I don't know if that would work. Maybe it can actually.....

Really good but overpriced product
The controller is quite solid. The pad is clicky and precise. However, charge characters might be tricky and very hard to play properly. Going from one direction to the opposite will can't be done reliably.Face buttons feel hollow with no resistance on the way down, but they spring back up nicely. The controller itself feels hollow, made of plastic and has very little weight to it. The feel grows on you though, as it allows you to tap those buttons fiercely and fast. The feature it has of swtiching on which side you want to have L1 and L2 is very welcomed, and also it allows you to plug it on PC.It's a good controller but I'd recommend getting it on sale or used. Starting price is too much for this build.

The Best
This is the best fighting game pad Ive ever had. Turns your thumb into an arcade stick. Took a little getting used to since youre not supposed to push downward on the DPad like you normally would. With this one you have to rest your thumbprint on the center. You move it across in whichever direction, like you would with a fightstick. So quick, so responsive, and the clicking feedback makes combos a breeze. Highly recommend (Tekken player). Quite loud though. Cant talk on the phone while playing without the other person hearing the clickity clack.I really hope Razer makes a PS5 game supported version of this.

Huge flaws
I really wanted to like this controller. The build quality is good. After gaming for a few hours, I do not think the controller is very ergonomic. It felt awkward most of the time, then it felt uncomfortable. The dpad drops inputs every now and then. The buttons don't correctly press down if you are pressing the buttons from the edges. I tend to roll my thumb and I notice many times, the buttons won't press all the way so my inputs won't register. It happens to me about a fourth of the time. Basically if you input the button at an angle, it won't register. This really affects me personally because of how I press the buttons with my thumb. This seems to be a design flaw because I play with Hori Fighting Commander Pro, and many other controllers, and this is the first time this has ever happened to me.In my opinion, the controller is not even worth $50. I paid $100.

Great for 3D fighters, not so great for 2D
I usually play fighting games on either my Mad Katz SFV PS4 fightstick or the basic DS4 so I wanted to try a different option. After some research I decided to buy The Razer Raion as it had pretty great features. So when it arrived I wanted to test it for a week on 5 different fighting games. Street Fighter V, Mortal Kombat 11, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Tekken 7, and Soul Caliber VI. The results were definitely mixed. This pad is great for games like SCVI and Tekken 7. Ok For SFV and MvC3 but terrible for MK11. The problems for me mostly come from the D-pad for 2D fighting games(which I play mostly). My input are just way and the dpad is super sensitive. While my results for 3D fighter are better than ever. The build quality is top notch, the buttons are big and clicky with a nice matte finish to them. It's a wired controller so no input lag and the cord is very long as well. If you like Tekken or Soul Calibur definitely try it out. As for Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat I'd try with caution.

By far the best fight pad
The best fight pad ever!! I've had the Power A fightpad, Hori fight commander. None of them come close to this oneAlot of people are basing there reviews from a youtuberI will be uploading my video here on Amazon soon. This controller is meant to be used with a light touch and not to be heavy handed.Unlike The power A fight pad where you do have to press the face buttons with force way more so than you would on the ps4 controller which is crazy. on this controller however feels like I'm playing an arcadestickThis goes for the D-pad as wellThe buttons are the lightest buttons I have ever felt on a controller period! It reminds me of hori hayabusa buttonsThe D-pad gives you that tactile response like an arcadestick would so you HEAR the inputs you doingPlus YOU can do zangiefs 360 motion on this controller. Because again this controller is meant to be sensitive. Light to the touch. The bumpers are sensitive not like the way the face buttons are but still pretty good and L2 and R2 are NOT triggers they are sensitive just like the the L1 and R1 buttons are.I see alot of youtube videos where people take the controller and slap the buttons and go yeah they feel great but dont really get in there and really tell you what they actually FEEL like in detail. Please dont shy away from this controllerThis controller is a must buy!!

Far from an ideal fight pad
I have been using this controller for around a week at the time of writing. I play SFV on the PC.The face buttons feel fantastic. You will probably like the "light" feel if you like the feel of sanwa buttons. But the face buttons are the only good thing about this controller. The D-pad in my opinion, is terribly designed. What many other users have highlighted is true, you have to play this with a very light touch, with the tip of your thumb rolling almost to the edges to actuate all 8 directions properly. You have to be careful not to press down into the middle or you may mess up you inputs. The problem is that in the heat of a match, it's very easy to roll your thumb around the D-pad quickly with a heavy touch. Even without that situation, it is still too easy to accidentally press down into the center of the D-pad.Take for example, I use Guile. After a flash kick, I would roll my thumb back into a down-back position. But, I have incidences where Guile would walk backwards as if I were holding back, or he would stand there in neutral position. I attribute this to holding the D-pad a little too close to the center, thus causing more than 2 switches to actuate. However, I don't get missed inputs of this nature when I use the Hori Fighting Commander or 8Bitdo M30.There is also quite a bit of throw between the Up/Down and Left/Right directions. This could mess potentially mess up with your timings.I don't see it as a matter of adjusting your play style. I see it as a design flaw. You don't want to be adjusting so much and thinking about how you use the D-pad in a match. The Hori Fighting Commander and 8Bitdo M30 are much better options, especially after considering the price.

not as bad as the other reviews claim. it's a very noisy controller though
if the controller biffs it i'll totally change my review, but over all not bad. It has some personality defects other fightpads have had, but for 8way it's really not that bad. I think some people tend to do most of their inputs from the center of the D-Pad, but I usually run my thumb along the edge of the D-Pad, so this works well for me.The controller has a good responsive feel, so you know when you're hitting your inputs. The DPad is definitely different in that it it's more like each directional is it's own individual button. Each 8way direction "clicks" as you push down. I like the hit confirmation, but I hate how clicky-loud it can get.Wish there were more of a feel difference between the face L1-L2 buttons and the standard four. I don't like how glossy the R and L buttons are either, as they feel a bit slippery. I might lightly sand the tops of mine to negate that, or put some kind of matte paint down on it.Personally wish the DPad sat even like half an inch lower on the controller, but that's personal preference. I also don't like how thick the controller is. For feel, the Hori and the Fusion are my favourite and would love something that sits right in the middle of those two.Not sure this controller was really worth over $100 but it's working so far for me. It's accurate enough. It must have some serious QC issues if the bad reviews are to be believed.

So disappointing.
I've been trying to buy a new pad for my PS4 to play fighting games with. I thought about the Hori Fighting Commander but I need a headphone jack and it doesn't have one. This seemed like it had everything I wanted, and someone here on Amazon had it for $78 CAD. But this thing isn't even worth that price.I mostly just play DBFZ nowadays so the issues with it not being able to do 720 motions easily didn't affect me. But what did is the absolutely awful buttons. They just feel terrible to use and I hate them. As for the dpad, I just can't get used to the thing. It just feels weird.Overall, I'm incredibly disappointed. If you own a PS4 pad and you want to know if you'll like the buttons on this pad, then just try pressing the buttons on your PS4 pad, think about how that feels, and then think about what the opposite of that would be like. That's the Razer Raion.
