Good Intro Book for Tweens
This was a helpful book about puberty for my 11-year-old daughter, covering the basics of the birds and the bees in a simple, age-appropriate way. I really liked that it also touched on “girl drama” topics like cliques and social media. I do wish it had been more upfront about serious topics such as non-consent situations and how kids can protect themselves, but overall it’s a great starting point. I’d recommend using this with supplemental guidance as your child gets older.

This book has everything!! So happy with this!!
Love, love, love this book. THANK YOU FOR WRITING THIS! I genuinely think every young girl should read it. It is so important to be informed about your body and I really wish someone bought me this book when I was 10. That being said, I’m sure it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it is *exactly* what I was looking for. A great resource to make sure my daughter is comfortable discussing and addressing these topics with me as she gets older.I purchased it for my 10 year old for our big “talk” and it went SO well. It was helpful to sit down and go through the book together, and it definitely helped me from feeling overwhelmed with where to start, and how to explain things easily and clearly. I’m also comfortable with her keeping this in her room on the bookshelf, for her to review whenever she wants. This book is clear, easy to understand, well laid out, very informative, and age appropriate. It gives scientific diagrams of the female and male anatomy (internal and external), it covers sex for reproduction AND pleasure, the importance of consent (thank you!!), internet safety, periods, hormones, friendships, crushes, nutrition, hygiene, masturbation, depression, anxiety, how to ask for help, and so, so much more. This book is full of body positive messages, scientific information, appropriate language, & great examples. It really encourages kids to be honest and open with trusted adults. A true gem, and I can’t recommend this book enough!!

Tween Approved.
I took my 11 year old daughter to the pediatrician for her check up and the doctor recommended getting some literature on puberty for her. After doing some research we landed on this one and I'm so glad we did. My daughter absolutely loved it and read it cover to cover the first night. She even carries it around as a little reference guide. She asked me some good questions after reading it too. I think it's a great place to start. I also got the one about feelings and she likes that a lot too.

Good book
Factual book about everything a 12 year old is probably thinking about. Its laid out well, and covers everything from body changes to tampon use, and the problems with social media. For those parents concerned about a book pushing “gender issues”, of 150 pages 1.5 pages cover a few terms about alternate sexualities...this book really isn’t pushing an agenda

My 11yo LOVES it! Factual, inclusive, body positive
My daughter is a tween now & on the verge of lots of changes. She has so many questions, and while we have lots of healthy ongoing discussions, she wanted a book to explain more. As a POC, my daughter was happy to see so many different representations of Brown & Black girls in the book, AND girls of all shapes and sizes. The content was easily digestible in a single topics with great overviews, illustrations & diagrams, quizzes, etc. When it came, she basically asked me to read it to her, cover to cover. SUCH special time with my girl, and matter of fact ways of explaining complex topics. We both loved how body-positive the book is, the way it celebrates & honors gender identity and sexuality, and more. I'm really comfortable talking about these topics as a mom, but I know LOTS of parents aren't. This is a fabulous way to empower the next generation of women with facts from two doctors, in age-appropriate, non-shaming / positive ways. I hope she grows into a teen and is proud of her unique body. I wish I could go back in time & buy this for myself when I was a preteen. But I'm so glad it exists now!

Great books for a budding preteen!
This book and the first one in the series are great books to give to your budding preteen. Not only has she become more of an avid reader because of them, but also comes to me with questions that I wouldn’t have thought to share with her. Such a great book!
