Works great to mate SeeStar to mount
If you have a SeeStar smart scope and are planning to run your scope in EQ mode with an equatorial base (like the SkyWatcher or William Optics), you'll need something to go between the scope and the base. After researching several different options (including Vixen bars - where you need to add a space like "fender washers", as the little pads on the corners of the scope base will hit on those) I decided to go with this, and am very happy with it.One tip / trick - The power button is supposed to point up once you attach the scope to the base. When you screw this adapter into the SeeStar where it is securely tight, the orientation of the side clamping portions may not be properly aligned with the base. In order to get things properly aligned (where the power button is pointing skyward) I removed the two tiny screws that hold the threaded bolt into the adapter - which worked well for me.Good product that did exactly what I needed at a very reasonable price!

Excellent Product
Used it for Seestar S50 on a Celestron AVX mount. Works good and it's very well made.

Purchased for use with Seestar50 on an Explorer Scientific mount. Works well as vixen plate.

Cheap and effective.
A cheap and effective way of mounting an DSLR or mirrorless camera onto a Sky Watcher Goto mount using a ballhead and lens mount. A tripod head locking screw would be an added advantage.

Very Useful
This adapter is very useful when trying to mount a camera or Star Adventurer on a vixen-style mount.

It fits a telescope dovetail mount not a finderscope dovetail mount.
I bought this thinking I could use it to attach a smartphone mount to my telescope finderscope dovetail. But, I was wrong. It fits a telescope dovetail, not the smaller finderscope dovetail. If you want to attach a camera tripod ballhead to a telescope dovetail mount, then this product is for you. I attaches securely and has a 3/8" fixed screw for the ballhead. Note that better camera tripod heads use the 3/8" size screw mount. Inexpensive and small travel camera tripod mounts use a 1/4-20 screw. So, check your camera mount before you order this product. I have some high end Manfrotto ballheads and they will fit it nicely. So, alas. I will be returning this and looking out for a suitable mount that fits the finderscope mount. If I manufactured this, I would also offer it in the smaller size as many people are starting to use smartphones as finderscopes on their telescopes.

Stud to long
I ordered this along with the Sky Watcher wedge for my Seestar S50. The threaded stud makes this unusable with the S50 because is too long for the S50 (and probably the S30). Other than that, the product is of good quality and probably works well for other applications.

It barely fits a Skywatcher HEQ5 so not recommended.
I previously asked if this would fit an HEQ5. Well, I got it and it does fit but just barely. If it was a little bit longer it would work fine. So, not really recommended ! My camera and lens cost over $3000 so I wouldn't take the chance.I bought a Manfrotto Quick Release Plate with Special Adapter (200PL) for $12 and it fits better. It has a 1/4" bolt with a 1/4 to 3/8 adapter so it will fit either my camera or my ballhead. The only problem is it's not long enough to attach a bolt on the up-slope end to prevent the camera from sliding out if the tightening screws loosen up ! So it's better to get a longer vixen dovetail plate and modify it !!
