No upscaling but nice, crisp output
This is the 3rd of these Kaico HDMI adapters I've bought. I also have the Dreamcast and OG Xbox versions. They all work really well and are of good sound construction for the price and are a convenient way to output your old consoles on modern TVs.Each of the Kaico adapters works slightly differently and offers different output signal options. I find this reassuring as it's obvious thatthey have spent the time to find the best possible way of outputting/converting the video signal from each console they make a cable for (rather than just repackaging the same low quality HDMI converter for each console as other brands do)One thing to note is that this cable does not upscale the image of your PS2. It mearly lets you choose from the already available output options and converts that to a clean HDMI output. So with the PS2 you are limited to RGB/Component (480p / 576i). I leave mine on component setting and it seems to work fine. The picture is in no way 'HD' by today's standards, but it's much cleaner and crisper than my previous method which was a RGB SCART cable and a billion times better than the standard 'red white yellow' composite AV cables that came supplied with most PS2s.You'll probably notice some fuzziness to text etc and cut scenes will generally be of low video quality anyway, but importantly actual game graphics are pretty damn good. Not quite to standard of my now sadly dead backwards compatible fat PS3, but good enough.(It should be noted that I keep a 720p screen to play my older consoles on, so it's possible it may not look as pretty on a 1080p or 4k screen.)*Edit*A downfall I have found is that, you can't play PS1 games on your PS2 through this cable.I guess without upscaling the output is just too 'none standard' for HDMI? Who knows.Luckily I have a PS3 Slim which does play PS1 games, bit worth noting if you have original Playstation games you wanted to dust off and play on your PS2.

Love it and thoroughly thrilled with my purchase
Got this HDMI converter to specifically use to play my PS2 Slim with and straight away, it worked an absolute treat and was super easy to set up.The image quality is okay considering it is a 25 year old console and is a little pixelly in some places, but apart from that, it does do it’s job of bringing the PS2 back to life on my 4KHD TV!Couldn’t recommend this product enough if you are looking to get yourself a PS2 and build up a retro gaming collection like I am doing. Look no further 😊

does the job, wish it did more
For £35 you're not getting Open Source Scan Convertor level image quality, but it does the job. It looks a hell of a lot better than those cheap AV/SCART/Component to HDMI boxes do, but I still take issue with the image quality. For starters, it tends to leave behind this scar of what was previously on the screen in any black spot. If the screen fades to black, you'll see the vague shape of what was on screen before it faded, in a dark grey colour. It's nothing that ruins your experience when playing games, but it's something I noticed a lot during loading screens or cutscenes.Secondly, I really wish it had options to keep the aspect ratio. This convertor goes along with whatever options your display allows, but that's sadly restrictive. My TV lets me squish a stretched out image back to the aspect ratio God intended, but the monitor at my desk doesn't have that option. So instead, I had to run it through a capture card, and use OBS to squish the image back down to 4:3. Would be nice to have a hardware aspect ratio switch or something like that. Those complaints are kind of minor but still enough that I felt 4 stars was justified. Still a great piece of kit and worth the money if you don't fancy investing in something like an OSSC or the like, but be aware of the downsides that come with spending less money.

High Quality and Easy To Install
The media could not be loaded. I'm big on Retro gaming and have been searching for a good product to allow me to use my Sony Playstation 2 over HDMI connection. This product comes with EVERYTHING you need, right down to a 4K HDMI cable. The instruction manual is one fo the best I have seen and is excellently illustrated and has multiple languages.By the time I brought the KAICO HDMI ADAPTER for PLAYSTATION 2 I had already purchased 2 previous products for the same purpose. Both of the prior products I purchased suffered 2 major issues, image and audio noise, and the need for the user to have an old CRT TV or a TV with a SCART connection to pre-configure the PS2 before you could use their version of the product (most people don't have a CRT TV or a SCART connection these days).Note this device does need USB power (cable supplied). I simply used one of the 2 USB ports on my PS2. You can of course use another source to power the device over USB.KAICO's product is a very high quality solution that can instantly be attached to current TV over HDMI and used, without the complications of other products claiming to do the same thing. There is a toggle switch on the adapter for RGB or COMPONENT, 98% of you will have been using RGB so this is how you will need to set the switch in order to get started using the device at a resolution of 240p. Once you have connected your PS2 you can then simply go to the SYSTEM CONFIGURATION of your PS2 and change the setting to YPrPb (component), power off, and then move the toggle switch to the YPrPb setting on the KAICO adapter. After doing this you can enjoy your PS2 in 576i.I have included extensive my product unbox and review, as available on my YouTube channel, for your viewing pleasure. For me this product is the best I have seen on the market in it's price point and the best I have used and tested yet. For me it's top marks, great product and well worth the money I spent.
