Educational and fun Snap circuit project
This is amazing basic snap circuit projectOur non -verbal 9 year old special lad has been enjoying it especially the colorful fan. He can operate it himself. We love it and definitely get the next step/box.

Great gift for kids
My 8 year old loved this as a gift. It comes with fun, neat projects and is easy enough to do herself. The cost is great for the amount of playtime.

Good supplemental science activity
Purchased this set for my 7-year-old. Really appreciate how easy it is for him to follow the pictures to assemble the different projects. What would give this product 5 stars and make me super impressed would be to have a booklet that explains the science behind what he is doing as he connects different parts. Something as simple as a QR code to different YouTube videos. I’ve found plenty online that work to explain to him what he’s doing. It just adds the reason “why” behind connecting up the electrical circuit. As stated, it’s a great product! With a little tweaking it could be an outstanding educational tool .

Favorite Gift!
I got this for my nephew for Christmas and it was his favorite gift! He absolutely loved it and after we built a few circuits together, he did them all on his own (age 6 btw). The instructions are very clear and it's quite durable. The instructions direct one not to short the terminals on the battery pack as it will cause the on-board fuse to blow. My nephew did this a few times inadvertently but the fuse never blew, so that was reassuring. I suggest that the manufacturer install a breaker switch or a fuse that can be easily replaced if it does blow (the current fuse is a hard solder through-hole part that can't be easily accessed).I didn't have any issues with the components not working out of the box. I checked every component with a DMM and they all checked out. This kit doesn't go into any circuit theory (a little bit would be nice) but it is definitely an attention grabber and fun as heck for the kids. I will be buying the next model up for my nephew!

Great for kids, some quality issues
We bought this for my 6 year old for Christmas. He has loved playing with it and it's perfectly suited for his age. He can do all the projects outlined in the manual by himself. It's easy to use and holds his interest. We have had to replace two parts so far (two months in). One of the lamps (L4) and the battery pack (B3B) have broken already. The plastic piece holding the battery anodes broke in two places from the pressure of the batteries against the spring. So far, Elenco has had great customer service and has replaced both pieces free of charge. But they will only replace three pieces per customer for free, and give the rate of breakage, I'm a little concerned I'll exceed that limit. My son loves this toy, and it's really one of the best Stem toys for his age group I've seen, so I still recommend it, but it would be nice if the pieces were a little higher quality.

And I wasn't disappointed. After going through a few of the projects ...
My son has difficulty staying on task and following instructions. Whenever something takes more than 2 steps he gets distracted. SQUIRREL!! He even told me to get a robot to do all of our chores for us because he can't seem to remember all the steps (convenient)... I said "There's no such thing baby. Why don't you build one!" When he said "I don't know how". it gave me an idea...."Why don't we start with the basics, baby. We would need a source of energy..."I got him this in hopes he could learn the basics of robotics/electronics/computers because...that's the future! And I wasn't disappointed. After going through a few of the projects in the pamphlet with him, he started trying to build it his own way until he made it work. He got so excited whenever he solved a "puzzle" and the light or fan would work. I was explaining to him how the switches change/stop the current. I could see the little wheels where turning in his head. By the time we were done playing he was able to follow all the steps and explain back what was happening.I'm not telling you this because I think my son is a genius. This toy is so engaging and educational that it makes even the most distracted kids follow instructions, have fun, and learn at the same time. Totally worth it. We got a bigger board after we tried this one and he still gets excited about the bigger things he can build.

My 7yo can do everything on her own
Allows my 7 yo to do it all by herself which as a parent I tend to underestimate. For me it's a bit pricy but I consider it an investment into a great first impression with electronics. We do 1 experiment daily together with some programming also (Code Combat). And plan to attend a coding group when she turns 8.
