Hub for Chromecast with Google TV and MacBook USB C
I do not know how Amazon chooses their rate features on the products reviews. There is always one of them that I fail to see how it fits on the particular product. Anyway, this review is not about amazon. The hub came in a very nice, sealed box. It has a black bag to protect it whilst taking it with you to wherever your needs demand. It is very decent looking and sturdy.I bought this mainly for the ethernet connector to use with Chromecast with google TV (CCGTV).Initially, I got very disappointed because it was not working at all. I tried different ethernet cables, rebooted my router. I tried it on a macbook pro and it simply refused to work. The LEDs from the RJ45 port were blinking and giving signals of live but neither the CCGTV nor the macbook were getting an ethernet connection. However, the USB port were working on my macbook.I disconnected it and went away to do a few more things and came back to it a few hours later. I decided to try again with the macbook. For reasons that I cannot understand it was working. I disabled my Wi-Fi and connection was strong and perfect. I then tried it again on CCGTV and the connection was detected and so far it’s been working without a problem. I also tried the different cables and different devices including a windows laptop and all of them are working fine. All of the devices can see the connected USB pen drives and ethernet is working. The devices can also be powered through the hub. I was able to power the CCGTV and the macbook.I sincerely do not understand why it was not working when taken out of the box and why it is working now. I did try to find some sort of support. I thought that it might need some firmware update or something similar, but I was not able to find any place with reference to the brand or the hub. I guess that if something goes wrong one is done for it.I hope this helps.

It does work with the 4k Chromecast TV & Google Streamer with Adopted Storage
For the 4k Chromecast Google TV & Google Streamer to give Adopted Storage (that's a special memory allocation so all additional memory becomes main addressable memory) you need to do the following:1. Power goes in the side of the hub, and you might need a bigger power supply. 2 amps old phone charger will do via an e seller. Google TV tells you if it doesn't have enough power. What additional USB is plugged in will have a bearing on whether the power that came with the device is adequate. I found for the Chromecast dongle I had to use a more powerful power supply, 2 amp. For the Goggle Streamer the one out of the box seems fine to drive 1tb SSD... not true for the Chromecast dongle.2. For adopted storage where it mounts all of your memory extended seamlessly, you will most probably have to do a factory reset with the device in to enable the drivers. A little closely guarded secret, only three mentions of this on the net. Few more now.A factory reset does the trick. I have a 1tb Samsung SSD mounted on it with Ethernet and a Huawei 2amp USB-C charger powering it all up. Chromecast Google TV needs this factory reset with the hub in to get the adopted storage drivers mounted correctly. The bottom on screen error message "data can't be transferred" or words to that means you got to do this if you want adopted storage. In ES Explorer you can see the added memory becomes pooled into the device's total memory available, when adopted storage isn't working you won't see the additional memory pooled. This is an old Nvidia Shield trick to turn a streaming device into a media server with built-in memory. You only really do this with SSD memory or reliable USB sticks. Once adopted storage is in play if the device becomes corrupted you loose what is in the adopted storage. The device will still boot but all apps on the adopted storage you won't see or any data files on it.Google Streamer same trick. Don't bother to load up any programs go for adopted storage, plug it all in and follow videos online. Select the option to integrate the SSD menu as main memory.----In summary, all is good with this hub on a 4k Chromecast Google TV device, but it's most likely you will have to use the little secret of doing a factory reset with everything plugged in to get adopted storage drivers configured in the Chromecast device + upping the power supply. You do (1) first to settle on whether the unit gives the power supply error. If good (2), the factory reset if you want adoptable storage. As said, one 2amps Smartphone charger is fine, nothing fancy with a 1TB SSD and in the case of the Google Streamer the power supply in the box was sufficient. This turns a streamer into a media server and streamer combined. Amazon Firestick / Cube / TV use the old Fat32 that limits you to 4gb file size, not good for 4k. Google on the other hand and Google Streamer less handicapped with program memory works perfectly with this hub.The crucial bit for adopted storage you need the PD type which this is.

If it works, it works for chromecast.
Bought for chromecast and second one I bought worked perfectly for chromecast 2020 with Google TV. I have ethernet, xbox 360 wireless dongle and a wireless keyboard all plugged in and working. The chromecast power supply is enough for all of this to work.Sadly the first one I bought didn't work at all. Found out later it had an amazon warehouse sticker on it and was missing some packaging and papers that my second one had. So I was initially sent a broken used one which is why I didn't give 5 stars. The working one works in my dell laptop, my galaxy note 8 and my chromecast 2020.

Perfect for Chromecast with Google TV
I bought this to utilise with my new Chromecast with Google TV. This was a great purchase. It provides so much more functionality to the Chromecast by itself. The main reason I purchased this was for the ethernet capability as it is similar in price to the official Google add on to add ethernet, except this also provides USB ports. Everything works perfectly as expected. No need to get a more powerful brick or anything as the stock power supply works perfectly for me. Overall, very happy with the product, feels high quality and works exactly as expected.

Dud - Ethernet did not work - As many other reviews also state
Purchased (£23) really for the ethernet and charging wattage it can handle. Power side of it worked but the ethernet did not work at all. No lights on a proven working connection.Feels ok, like that plastic metal effect stuff. USB C connector to the laptop felt secure.Returning for refund as even if I do get it replaced for a working one, I don't trust it will last long. Going off other reviews with exactly the same experience (and another I purchased and since failed a year ago), it tells me there are 0 quality checks therefore I don't see any lasting long at all.By the time people read this, the item will be discontinued, then re-branded and the circle of Chinease tat continues. But on returning, help Amazon save the amount of trucks on the roads by taking it to a dedicated Amazon collection point. I feel good inside for selecting that.
