Great For Adults Also
I am 43 years old and bought this for a Christmas present for my 4 year old. It arrived at the office today and I just had to open it to check it out and make sure there were batteries in it. This thing is awesome. I'm an officer and just could not resist putting the helmet on walking around my office making statements like "Halt, who goes there" and "get down on the ground with your hands behind your back". My peers of course told me to grow up, but they laughed and it was all in good fun as they called me Robocop.I think I made more sales for amazon today in my office alone.I know if I had this much fun with it my 4 year old should have a grand time. It is a large helmet that will fit an adult, but there are adjustable straps that should fit a child with no problem. It lacks padding inside and could be dangerous for a young child if the straps are not adjusted correctly.It is made of fairly strong plastic that has some angles inside the helmet. I will most likely add some padding from an old bicycle helmet. Knowing my child, he will get in some fictitious battle with his sister and she will probably conk him over the head (playing) and he might get hurt. You may have to supervise a young child while they wear this. Thats the only con I see with this. It is rec commended for ages 5+, but even for ages 5-10 this product can be potentially dangerous due to lack of padding inside.Overall, this is a well built product that should provide hours of fun. I purchased the Transformers DVD as well so my child can watch the move and get into the character. I think I will have more fun with this than he will, such is the life of a big kid ;)

"Wicked awesome!"
"Wicked awesome!" was my son's first response when he opened up his new Optimus Prime helmet. He uttered more positive exclamations after he had a chance to open the package and try the helmet on. He had so much fun in it, we had a hard time talking him into taking it off at bedtime. He wanted to sleep in it!The helmet is much better, both in quality and "awesomeness" than his Darth Vader helmet, and makes way cooler voice-changes! It is by far his favorite toy, and he got some pretty great ones for Christmas.The only educational value is stimulation of my son's imagination, but overall, the toy has provided some great fun for all of us. I am so glad we bought it!

for a few cents more could have been better
Nice concept. but the straps for adjustment are poor at best. if they would have spent a few cents more a strap the toy would have been much better. Parts do come off, do double sided tape is a must, and the lenses that you look through are so distorted walking more than a few feet would be a danger to any child enclosed. Over all poor at best.

Great Fun toy!!
My son who is only 3 got this for Xmas. He is thrilled with it. He thinks he is a power ranger. The echoing strange robotic voice that comes out when he talks is GREAT!!My only complaints are that the back top piece..that is suppose to snap off for head adjustment keeps falling off, due to my sons throwing the helmet off at times. I think with an older child this may not happen. It doesn't really affect the toy even with it off.Also the microphone is sensitive! It sometimes picks up my voice when I am next to him....maybe this means I am too loud.Overall a GREAT toy. Highly recommended! LOVE IT!!

Not really for 5-6 year olds
I read alot about this toy before buying and I actually thought when you had the helmet on and you spoke it made your voice sound like the transformer....thru some voice changer.......but it doesn't - you have to reach up and hit a button to make it make sound. I had bought the laser guns with it (which weren't actually laser) and you can't hardly hold on to the helmet while you work the laser guns (guns took 14 batteries!!) The helmet seems constructed pretty good except the back head strap - and it does not look cheaply made at all. I think this is for a bit older of a child - I am not sure what age.

WHAT a hit!!!
We got this for our grandsons 6th birthday as he is in to the Super Heros and the like so we thought he might find this fun. Not only did he find it awesome but so did his older siblings. It's still going strong too with no problems for sound or breakage so would recommend this for not only the younger kids but some of the older ones too. I'd noticed in some of the comments from others that it might have an adjustment problem but we had no problem at all. The straps are very easy to adjust so he could wear it comfortably. Yes! We recommend this.

Great toy...
I bought this for my 4 year old nephew who absolutely adores transformers and he loved this helmet. I was impressed by the space in the helmet so there is no chance of your child's head getting stuck or anything. Visibility through the helmet is great as well so there is no chance of children running into objects to hurt themselves due to lack of visibility. The voice changer is also a very cool feature. If the child that you are buying this for is a fan of transformers, then they will love this toy!
