Some of the previous reviews are alarming because I think this is a great deal. I posted a video over stretching it and it did pop but again, it was overstretched. If using for hairstyling, and you are overstretching it to the point where it pops, you need larger rubber bands. I always compare numerous products, sellers, and reviews and to me, this was the best value at the time. I purchased them to achieve the rubber band method for braids and faux locs and they seem to serve the purpose. If you have curly or course hair, don't forget to oil the bands before you use them.

I am a woman of color with coily/curly hair and I used this product to keep my Bantu knots and braids secured. These bands didn’t even last 10 minutes before breaking. If I wanted any chance of my hair staying in one piece I would have to use multiple bands on one braid or Bantu knot. I would not recommend these bands to anybody purely because of how easily they break.

After wearing these in my naturally curly hair over a 4 day backpacking trip in the desert AND in the ocean, I had to leave a review. These really couldn’t be any better for the money. They do stretch quite a bit so great for thicker hair but you’ll probably want to wrap several times for thinner hair. All that said, not every band is perfect, I’ve had a few break putting them in. Also keep in mind that any band like this will break if you have certain types of hair oil in or if the are exposed to the heat of the full sun for a while.

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to purchase these because of all the bad reviews, but I decided to give it a shot. I purchased the black elastics and they are very durable! They last all day, they do not snap randomly, and they are relatively easy to remove. After using these, I have no idea why there are so many bad reviews. Elastics are not supposed to be reused. Perhaps they don’t work on every hair type. Mine is medium density with 2c/3a curls. If you have a lot of oils in your hair, it may cause the elastics to snap, but other than that they work perfectly fine. I definitely recommend!
