Excellent cone to prevent getting to hot spots
This has been perfect for our lab/collie mix dog. She's about 48lbs and we got the Large. Fits her perfectly so she can't get at the hot spots we're trying to have treated during this allergy season. It's a little more expensive than some of the other cones, but so far it has been durable, she's comfortable and has been able to sleep in it fine, and the velcro is STRONG, so she's not able to just toss it off. Be forewarned - the velcro is very durable...she had her head on my husband's feet at one point, and got stuck...the velcro stuck to his socks. Which for entertainment purposes was hilarious, but it is something to watch out for. Like anything, dogs shouldn't be unsupervised. But all in all, worth every penny!

No more banging knees/furniture
Collects hair like no mans business but otherwise a marked improvement over the plastic cone battering ram. Not quite as long past the snout as the plastic cone but easily fit both my lab and lab/shepard mix . Maybe because it is solid, it seemed to function like blinders on a horse calming my dog down a bit. Can eat and sleep with it on and seems much more comfortable than the plastic lampshade. Because of the full length velcro, having the ability to thread a separate collar through it made taking it on/off so much easier - avoiding the need to rematch velcro. No danger of it opening which was a problem we had with the plastic cones as the full panel is velcro-y which also give a good amount of flex in having t fit different neck sizes. My lab/shepard also did not feel the need to ventilate the cone when my other dog was wearing it (she inevitably would leave bite mark/holes in the plastic ones).

HIGH QUALITY, DURABILITY and most importantly COMFORT
my dog was chewing his butt/tail end and giving himself a reoccurring yeast infection there, making himself completely bald with red, irritated skin & he smelled like a corn tortilla. he's 3, so has not yet worn a cone, so we bought this one because we knew the plastic kind would be miserable. now, i have a VERY good boy, and he does just about anything i put him through without a fuss so it was expected he would handle the cone with little issue, your mileage may vary by dog how well they tolerate it. he only wears the cone at night which is when he would chew himself.this cone is GREAT! i purchased the XL for my 95lb GSD/rottweiler/lab mix with a very thick neck (22") i was concerned the XL would be too small, but it's adjustable and fits him well. it's durable, flexible, my dog can still sleep in his normal positions, it really doesn't phase him at all. can still eat/drink and it keeps him from chewing his hind end which is why we ordered it, but it will be useful in the future if he needs to wear a cone for other reasons, highly recommend.

HUGE Improvement Over Plastic!!
So happy we decided to purchase this product instead of continuing to use the standard (cheap plastic) e-collar we started with. The edge of the plastic collar was digging into his back leg wound, and this soft one doesn't do that. We also love that it's so much easier to put on and take off, thanks to the hook-and-loop material, and doesn't have to be super snug on his neck since a collar attaches to the cone. (We used a second collar so that his main collar (with ID) was still present when the cone wasn't on.) The reflective piping on the outer edge is also nice at night, making it really easy to see where he is in the yard and adds safety if you are ever around vehicles at night. It was also much easier for our dog to get through doorways, etc, since the material was soft and could conform a little, unlike the plastic cone.I have a few negatives (and one suggestion for improvement), but not enough to reduce a full star.1. The soft material makes this cone warmer than a plastic cone, so his ears got pretty red inside.2. The material is less "slick" than plastic, so it caused quick matting/dreading of his ear hair, requiring us to brush (and sometimes cut) his ear hair every day.3. The hook-and-loop material that was exposed (where it didn't overlap fully bc of his neck size) got really dirty with hair, etc, and can't really be cleaned up, so it ended up looking kind of gross, and could also get stuck on things. It's also a little rough, so we tried to keep the hood turned so that this part was facing away from the wound so he wouldn't scrape it on the injury if he tried to get at the wound. I think they could devise some type of cover material that you cut to size and lay on the exposed outer/hook part to keep it soft and clean. This would also have the added benefit of making it really easy to put it back on in the exact same place/size every time, since it would serve as a marker of where it was the time(s) before.Sizing note: I was using this on a 40lb Aussie, and the L was def the right size. We ordered a M and L bc we needed to make sure we had one that worked asap. The measurements I took indicated L for snout length, and at the top of M and bottom of L for neck. We tried the L first, and only had the neck half tight, so it fit just fine. We never opened the M, and returned it. I'd say the snout length is the most important since it determines if they can get past the cone to get at the wound, and their sizing there seems very accurate.

Great aside the Velcro catching other materials
Although it limits the pup’s peripheral, it’s soft and calming, and he adjusted over the course of a few short hours. Perfect size (S Long) to go beyond his nose, so he could not access wound on his upper leg. Super easy to adjust via the dog’s collar. However, after day 9 of healing the Velcro (on a small dog a lot of the Velcro is exposed) caught the couch and he was stuck to the couch so hard that he yanked out of the cone reinjurying his stitches by his eye. This exposed velcro needs fixed, as it jeopardizes the whole 10-14 days the dog needed to wear it.
