Wow .... this thing is FUN !!!
I received, unpacked and fully charged my new HS 165 quadcopter and controller yesterday afternoon. This little gem is my first quadcopter and this morning was my maiden flight. This thing is crazy fun to fly even for a rank beginner. The instructions are fairly straight forward and walking through the pre-flight setup was as easy as 1, 2, 3, (4, 5, 6). I attached my Smartphone running the HS app and the image sent from the quadcopter's camera was really quite good.Being a newbie, I used the One Key takeoff/Landing button to start and end the flight which worked like a charm. I live on the edge of a bluff and there is always a bit of wind. This morning's breeze was around 10 mph but the HS 165 was easy still easy to keep reasonably steady with only minor adjustments on the Joysticks. The HS 165 was very responsive, very maneuverable, not near as loud as I thought it would be and plenty fast enough even though I did not open it up full throttle. The app interface was very good aw well.I have ordered a 32gb micro card and intend to practice flying and taking photos/videos over the weekend. My ratings on the Battery life and Durability is just a placeholder at this point because I haven't run down the battery or crashed (yet). The unit feels very durable however.I will update this review as I learn more about it and get some photos/videos I can post with it.UPDATE: Aug 12, 2019I enjoy this quadcopter every time I fly it and I've been flying it practically every day since I got it. I no longer use the one-key takeoff/landing button on the controller because it's just very simple to do using the controller sticks. Once the initial setup is done, subsequent pre-flight setup consist of 4 easy to remember steps.Taking photographs/videos is as easy as pressing a button and the quality is quite good for such a small unit. I often change the flight speed just to test it's capabilities and I've been pushing it further and further out to test it's range. Several times, I've pushed it out or up to where I can't see it but returning using the camera view on the connected phone attached to the controller makes it easy to get back to the landing without problem. The unit remains responsive.I've found no negatives to the quadcopter itself. The only relative cons have to do with the phone application. Parts, such as the video review screen, have not been translated to English but there are only 3 options and it was easy to figure out their function through quick trial-and-error. All other features of the app are pretty straight forward and I'm sure they'll get better with future releases of the app.More testing to come but as of this moment, I'm extremely pleased with the HS 165 and would highly recommend it.

Controller Charging Problem. Flash and no charge?
The media could not be loaded. I received the HS-165 from my wife as a birthday present. We are beekeepers and she thought this would help me do videos and photos when we are working with our bees. Plus other stuff. Mainly because it sounded cool. She looked at several drones and thought the Holy Stone HS-165 had the best reviews and was a good value.I got it on my birthday and opened it a few days later. Looked very good. Great packaging. Seemed pretty straight forward on using it. The drone battery charged up right away. However, the controller didn't seem to want to charge. The charging LED would just flash when you plug it in. It just didn't charge, even after several hours of being plugged in. I Tried different UBS plug blocks and had same results. So, I called Holy Stone at the number shown on the instruction manual. A representative answered right away. He asked a few questions. Asked me to email a video and some info to Holy Stone and said they would take care of it right away. Hated to have a problem, but good to know they have good customer service! Also, the instruction manual has an OR code for downloading the "HS GPS V4" app. The OR makes it super easy to download and install the app for the HS-165.28Nov2019: I wanted to post an update. I received a new controller that works great. I had a personal customer service rep that followed up with me several times to make sure I received the new controller. He even called me to make sure everything was OK and that I was not having any other problems. He even hooked me up with another battery for my HS-165. I am beyond happy with my drone and the support I have gotten from Holy Stone. Great company!

Extremely stable but a bit complicated for beginners.
This drone is definitely top quality especially for the price. I had it up and flying fairly quickly after unboxing it. It is quite compact, especially with the blades folded in. There are some pre-flight things that must be done as this drone has an internal compass and GPS. I haven't tested all the advanced functions yet and will edit this review once I have done so.Pros:-Very well packaged-Compact & easy for travel-Very sleek and nice looking-Straight forward and in-depth instructions (make sure you read them through so you can properly pair and tune/calibrate the drone)-Decent battery life (about 15 minutes without camera use)-Hovers amazingly well, stays exactly at same height with very little drift (if it does drift trimming is easily done from remote)-Very responsive to remote commands, including the 1-button take off and landing, return to home and trimming-Has headless mode and 2 speeds-Has emergency stop function-Includes the following spare parts/tools: 4 blades, 4 screws, small screwdriver, USB battery charging cable, and USB remote battery charging cable-Remote has a built-in rechargeable battery-Can purchase extra spare parts: 4 more blades and 4 more screws; & 2 extra motors for a discount if bought at same time as droneThese advanced functions I have not tested yet and will update this review once I have done so:-Has an SD slot for micro-SD cards for taking pictures and videos with the full HD 1080p camera-Has an app for phone support, flying and taking pictures/videos directly to phone (have not tried this yet but will update once I have)-Phone holder on the remote (although the drone can be flown directly from your phone with the app)-Has waypoint function capability from phone app-Has follow-me mode from phone app-Has low voltage and fail-safe return to home functions-Has circle modeCons:-Can be a bit overwhelming for first time pilots and requires in-depth reading of the instructions prior to flying-Must remove battery from drone to recharge (not a big deal for me but may be an inconvenience for some)-Return to home function requires a very large open area as the drone will fly several large circles slowly decreasing in size as it narrows in on its take-off positionFor me the Pros far outweigh the few Cons I have found so far. As I test the advanced functions and the drone more in-depth I will add to this review.
