Works well except the USB C connector is intermittent. I have a hard drive attached and if I move the cable or even touch it the connection is lost. I even replaced the cable with a new one and still have the same problem. Didn't notice it until I spent two days loading software so I'm not sending it back. Other than that, it is working as expected.

A Rather Perfect Machine with one caveat

To start with, I wanted a 17” IPS display for better productivity (I can easily have 2 windows open at once), I also wanted separate head phone and mic inputs, and a dedicated graphics card with sufficient Ram, an SSD drive and a spinning drive for data, as well as an optical drive. This all lead me to a gaming computer.I work with Photoshop, On1 Photo Raw, Affinity Photo and Illustrator, in addition to business software. First to deal with hardware questions people had; this laptop came with an optical drive, everything else is as stated above, the GTX 1050Ti 4GB DDR 5 card, 7th generation processor with 16GB DDR4, 256GB SSD and 1TB 7200RPM drive. I appreciate that MSI only used one slot for the 16GB RAM leaving a slot for expansion, which I will probably do in the future. For now it seems pretty snappy, but RAM is cheep so why not. Having the operating system and programs on the SSD is best for two reasons; 1. Boot time about 16 seconds, and programs even large ones like Photoshop start almost instantly (3 - 5 seconds). 2. I do image backups of my system and C partition, instead of paying for a service, in case of emergencies like ransom-ware etc. All my data is on the other drive away from the operating system, and also backed up. As an indicator of speed, I did a 57GB backup image to external drives in 8 ½ minutes averaging 10 to 12 MB/sec. (As reference my old i5 machine took about 40 minutes). The lighted keyboard is nice at night, and easily controlled with the Dragon Center software, as well as through the keyboard using the function key.Regarding the True Color software; This model is compatible with TrueColor, but you have to download the software. TrueColor provides controls for brightness and white balance, but is not a calibration software. It's helpful, but this display is not sRGB accurate. For photo editing etc. you really need to calibrate the display. Sound is good, and loud enough, but I usually plug in external speakers for music, movies, and YouTube. At 80%, sound was loud, yet I did not detect any distortion. The quality of the sound also is pretty good, especially for a laptop. There is software by Nahimic to control and contour the sound to your liking. Also when you plug a device into the headphone jack, the machine recognizes the action and asks if it's for headphones, speaker out, or S/PDIF out.I was concerned about whether the fan would be too loud, and obnoxious, but for my purposes it's been actually very good, rather on the quiet side.A nice little extra is the MSI logo lights up on the top side of the display lid. And for right handed people, the mouse and power cord (with a 90 degree connector) are on the right side along with the optical drive for less clutter, with everything else on the left side. Using a Bluetooth mouse would free up a USB-2 port. The display card is more than adequate for Photoshop and other demanding needs. I plug in a larger calibrated monitor for photo editing and graphic design...no problem. Also, the 17” display is perfect for movies and videos. In summary this computer has a good quality SSD, a decent graphics card with good memory, extra software for extensive customization, the newest processor, and excellent build quality and components. And you don't have to throw away RAM to upgrade. You get what you pay for.My only reason for not giving 5 stars is I would have liked a more color accurate display, but was able to calibrate to sRGB using a Spyder Pro.This is a rather perfect machine for all around use, and a good desktop replacement. I'm very happy with the purchase, and would recommend it, with the one caveat for photographers.

Great choice!
I had concerns about getting a mid-priced computer that wouldn't hold up running a Pro Tools type recording software but this thing blows right past it. Zero latency issues. Block size options are top notch.Great choice!

GO - and as far as CS is concerned I'm playing at max settings and this thing is great for it
I mainly just play CS:GO - and as far as CS is concerned I'm playing at max settings and this thing is great for it. Compared to the last MSI laptop I bought this thing stays pretty cool even after playing for a while.
