The Smith & Wesson Alpha Electronic Earmuffs combine great circuitry with a low-profile ear cup that is ideal for shotgun shooters and action shooters. The two microphones in the muffs amplify sounds below 85 decibels, which amplifies normal communication, range commands and environmental sounds. Above 85 decibels, the microphones shut off to protect the shooter's hearing. Enabled with one stereo microphone in each cup, the user can localize sound from all directions.

Works great and batteries last a long time.
These electronic ear muffs work great. Protect your ears not he range and can still hear everything else under the sound of a gun shot. This also does not kill batteries. I have owned several different pairs of electronic ear muffs and these are the best I have used besides the ones i used for SWAT, which cost $100s. For the price and quality, this really can't be beat.

Works great
Works great. Just in case you were wondering. The noise cancellation is the same with the mic turned on or not. The only difference is with the mic turned on you can pick up voices more clearly. But the bang sound from the shots are the same with or without the mic.

Not for an indoor range use, static noise, interference noise - don't buy
Updated: Bought these for the brand S&W M&P. These are bad at noise suppression at an indoor range when amplification is off, awful at noise suppression when amplification is on - gunshots get sharper. When amplification is on, there's lots of loud white noise. When using these around any electric tools or devices, there's an added loud interference noise. There are lots of better models e.g. Walker's with NRR 26. Will use these muffs when mowing my lawn.
