Wasn’t sure of the colour at first but was presently surprised
Couldn’t be happier with this paddle board. It is incredibly comfortable well made and once pumped up it feels and looks very sturdy! It’s easy enough to get the hang of and can be used by a beginner and experienced user alike. It takes about 5-10 mins to set up once you’re familiar with the process. The colours are deep and well contrasted so you stand out amongst other SUPs whilst also being incredibly well designed and made. After using this a few times my only issue was with the paddle that came with it which feels a little flimsy in comparison to the paddle board. Apart from this it is a perfect unit with a nice big bag to store everything you need with it.

Don't lose the screw!
This board is lovely but has a silly design fault. The screw which holds the fin in place isn't 'captured' in the fin, but loose. On only my second outing I unrolled the board next to my car and saw the screw had dropped free of the fin. I put it down 'somewhere safe' knowing I'd need it once the board was inflated... only to lose it! After searching for 15 minutes in the boot of the car, on the grass verge, EVERYWHERE I gave up, deflated my board (and my enthusiasm) and drove home.I searched online for these screws and found Amazon sells lots of 'paddle board fin screws' so bought a pack of 3 - WHICH DIDN'T FIT! Every 'paddle board fin screw' listed online is M5 thread, so you'd assume it was standard. Not this board. The thread is smaller and you can't slide the nut out to use an alternative M5 piece - it's fixed into the fin slot. The designers have really made this difficult! So I've just ordered M4 thumb screws and will wait another 2 days to see if they fit and I can get back out while this weather is so lovely. It's crazy that I've lost 5 days of paddle boarding fun because of one tiny part. So... enjoy the board - but don't lose that fin screw!

We all love it
I was fortunate enough to get this to test and how happy I am. I already have another paddle board but having two meant being able to get out together as a family. First trip was on the Thames to a riverside bar. Everything was perfect; I had no concerns about being let down by the paddle board. Another couple of outings on the river were also a success. We joined other family for a short break by the coast and took the boards with us. Adults and children had a fantastic day in the bay taking it in turns on the paddle board. The included pump is a bit cheap looking but to be honest I bought an expensive one and I'm still using the supplied cheaper one as it's so much lighter to carry. I've also invested in an electric pump for using to blow up the board at the car by the lake. The supplied carry bag is adequate and does the job. We carried the paddle boards about two miles to the beach, all uphill on the return journey. That was far enough For me I think. Weight is something to consider if you'll be hiking with the board. Otherwise I know there are many boards to choose from. I have two from different brands and I can't decide which one I prefer. One is slightly lighter but the other is more stable and wider (this one). It's all a personal choice and your use will dictate too. I can say though, that never once did I think about it letting me down. I must stress though that if there's one thing you should be sure to buy to compliment your board is a buoyancy aid/impact vest. I bought my family one each and we paddle with the assurance that we are safe in the water. Also waterproof phone holders are good and allow you to take some great 'out on the water' shots (pictures not drinks);-)

Good starter SUP...
I chose the Blue version of this Portal SUP although I wasn't totally sure about the design but in reality it's a fun and funky looking SUP and I'm very happy. Also happy that the Blue one is very slightly wider and straighter-sided than the other choices because I think it makes it slightly more stable and gives a slightly larger safe (less tip-prone) area to stand and all of that's useful for beginners. Beginners also get pretty much everything they need to start with this kit too and the only additional thing I'd recommend (apart from a buoyancy aid to wear) is some kind of electric air pump to make it easier to inflate and deflate. The included pump is actually very good and the air hose fixes securely into the valve in the board (unlike some) which makes life easier. It still takes a fair effort to get it fully inflated and I use a pocket-sized air pump to do maybe 80% of the work just leaving me to bring it up to full pressure, there's a PSI meter on the pump to let you know when to stop. Once inflated there's a good sized foam 'deck' on top with a textured surface to prevent slips and that's even more effective if you've got water shoes or similar to wear.I'm tall but the included paddle can be extended to (just) about the right length for me and of course can be reduced for smaller people. The removable fin uses an unusual but effective screw-fixed bracket, it works well but if you ever need to buy a replacement fin it might be difficult to find, most replacements seem to use the more common slide and latch style. The basic construction is really good and it feels rigid and secure in use. The D-rings are well attached, the seams are all good and you get the requisite bungees to stow your gear. The bundled 'essential' smartphone case seems more splashproof than waterproof to me but it's still useful to have. The repair kit is really just two pieces of fabric for patching a burst board but you don't get the (probably solvent-based and so controlled) cement you'll need to attach them, so source that before you set off. The carry-bag is somehow less capacious than it looks and I'm struggling to get the pump in there, although it takes everything else in the kit, I could force it but don't want to risk damage to anything. Overall I'm really delighted with the SUP, it's decent quality and looks great and with a bit of care should last for a while - especially considering how rarely the UK weather will let me use it!
