Easy Fix
Great product that worked out fine as a replacement. I was sure to disconnect the power and discharge the capacitor. I took a picture of the connections before disconnecting and removing the old contractor. The markings on the terminals of the old and new part were completely different. I was just careful to connect the primary power to the side labeled 440v and the control wires to the side labeled 24v. The main control wires on my AC unit had terminals whereas this new part had screw connections for the control wires just like the high voltage side. I had to cut the terminals off, strip the wires and insert them into the holes and tighten the screws. On my unit all the yellow control wires went on the right.I then had to connect all the terminals properly on the right, left and top. One of the terminals was rusted and broke off. Luckily I had a terminal and crimper for it.Everything went back together great and once I closed everything up and reconnected the power the air conditioner worked fine. Pretty easy for what the AC repair company wanted to charge me over $500.

Compatible and quick to install
Since the screw terminals for this contactor require the use of bare wire, I had to remove the fork terminals from the 240V power wires that attach to the top of the contacter. But this is certainly better than needing to add fork or ring terminals and not having them.

Perfect Replacement-Upgrade Contactor
I have a 3-ton Amana A/C unit that is 23 years old. Over the past few weeks, I was aware of the HVAC system being Off, but that the compressor outside was still running, building frost on the cold side line. At first I just went to the Breaker Box and shut off the A/C breakers. Then I took the side cover off the A/C unit outside and "rapped" on the contactor. After 2 or 3 hits, the compressor shut off. In my case, the contactor was working well enough to turn On the unit, but the contacts would weld themselves tight together and not allow the unit to turn Off. This unfortunately caused many nights of poor sleep as I never knew when the next time the contactor would fail "On" again. As you are already aware, Amazon carries an exorbitant collection of contactors from which to choose, but I drilled my decision down to this Protactor contactor. In case you don't already know, basically all of these contactors are built with the same footprint and size, with the main differences being the coil operating voltage (24, 120, or 220VAC), the contactor (relay) contact ratings (from 25 to 40 Amp), and the number of poles that are required for the control circuit (1, 2, or 3).My contactor was a simple 1 pole circuit with a 24v coil and contacts rated @ 25 Amps for FLA (Full Load Amps). Therefore, if I can upgrade to a 40 Amp FLA contactor, it allows the contacts to live a much longer life with 60% greater contact area.I received this 40A Protactor within 2-days after ordering it and installed it right away. My A/C compressor and fan are now running better than ever! I really mean it! Before, with the worn out original contactor, the compressor used to literally groan and growl especially during the first few minutes of operating. Now, with the 40A Protactor in place, there is none of that, very smooth and quiet, as it should be. I thought I might need a new compressor, but now I realize that the old contactor was wasting energy across the contacts and not allow full voltage and current to the compressor unit. The A/C appears to also be running less in duration and less often, due to improved operation efficiency. My family is delighted and impressed that I was able to repair our A/C system with a part that cost less than $21 w/ Tax. Now no more worries about the contactor sticking in the On position! I totally recommend this contactor for anyone in a similar situation. It is worth its weight in gold!

It works, but it has a short lifetime.
I replaced my AC's contractor in 2019 with this model, and it did work great until 2025. I just bought the same model, 2 of them this time so I have a spare on hand, to get back working. I will update based on the new one's performance, but the old one did only last 6 years. This is in line with other lower star reviews, and the failure mode was the coil. You can depress the test button and it conducts fine, but applying voltage to the switching coil does not activate it. I put a multimeter on the old one and my spare, the old/burned out one measures 0.9ohms on across the coil and the new one just over 14 ohms, so it clearly shorted out over time. It is either an environmental or a duty cycle issue, but at the cost I'm willing to deal with it if we are talking once or twice a decade...it keeps my old AC unit kicking.

Replacement 220V contactor for outside AC compressor
Had an outdoor compressor intermittently fail to come on at an outbuilding I have. Thought the start capacitor had failed but that tested within limits. Pressing the contactor with an insulated screwdriver would get the system to energize. I ordered this unit and replaced it. Now the A/C works perfectly. I took the old contactor apart and it had burned up the contacts.

Decently made replacement part. Recommend pay little more for much better part.
One of the best made hvac contactors on Amazon, well structured and much better than others half the cost, spend a little more for a much better replacement part. Two thumbs up.
