WatchDog 100

I bought this Watchdog 100 sensor for my house and it was exactly what I was looking for. As a frequent traveler I worry about my home especially during the winter months. Out of the box this device allows me to set alarms on temperature and humidity and send me an email if a parameter strays outside my alarm settings. After initial installation I also added water and city power monitor sensors (I set up the Watchdog 100 on a small UPS along with my Internet router so that messages are sent even if power goes off) providing a complete warning system. I particularly like the graphs that the system can generate for temperature humidity and dewpoint (30 day max) I now travel with much more confidence that I won't come home to frozen pipes or a flood in the basement!

We've had this up and running for a little over a month now and it's been a life saver. We just moved into a new location where we have our servers and telecom equipment in it's own air conditioned room. The AC failed a week after moving in and this unit made sure we knew about it. This was over a weekend, so I can't imagine what might have happened if we weren't alerted. Highly recommend!

Decent temperature monitoring system. I wish that it worked with foscam security cameras but the camera url field is too short for the link. I contacted support and they mentioned that they may fix that in an upcoming firmware update. If you want it to work with nagios or check_mk you will pretty much have to write your own snmp plugin, and support offers no help, though they do provide the MIB files. To me it was a bit expensive for such a small simple device. I believe that with a little effort you could build a similar device with a raspberry pi for < $100. That said, time is money and you can snap this in the rack and be monitoring it in 5 minutes.

easy to install. I have been using this product for a year and very pleased with his functionality. It is a valuable help to be advise on the temperature and humidity conditions of our site.
