Prym Love Vario Pliers Plus Piercing/Colorsnaps Tools, Silver

My first attempt at snaps so bought this as I wanted confidence I could do it. Easy to use, the instructions aren’t clear but YouTube has lots of videos that helped. The remover tools a godsend don’t lose it! I made a faux leather purse. I attached the top halve and used that to indent the bottom half placement which worked a treat. Definitely recommend and it’s not hard on the hands.

It is difficult to review these because there are zero instructions. I had to watch several infuriatingly slow you tube videos before I understood how to use them. It should also be made clear that different types of studs need different attachments, bought separately and not cheap. At the very least there should be clear on line help or instruction but no, nothing, you have to rely on other users who have been kind enough to provide the information that should have been provided by the manufacturer. The pliers are sturdy and seem to be a good product but oh, how annoying trying to suss out how to use them!

These are more expensive than the older model, but the pretty blue colour made the price difference worth it to me. They work really well. I've used them to pierce 3mm holes in cotton belting for rivets, and I've used them with the Prym 8mm Eyelets + Washers (that pack comes with the attachments you need for 8mm, the required attachments do not come with this tool). Both these things were very easy to do, but you do need a lot of hand strength for the 8mm holes or a happy volunteer.They feel very robust, I expect these to last for a long time.

The pliers are made of metal, however the tool is plastic and after using it a number of times( 10- 15 times) these start to show wear. I have read many of the reviews and they sing the praises of this product. In my hands they require a large amount of force to ensure the two parts of the popper come together. If you are not careful or the popper moves slightly out of alignment as you come to compress them together you will damage the plastic teeth that hold the popper in the tool. This type of setup is not ideal, why have a plastic tool head? For the end user this is a poor design, it works but the tools have a short life span.

Lovely snap setter, not massive like some versions. I found this works just as well with cheaper off brad snaps as it does with the Prym snaps.

The only issue is the lack of instructions, but I found a good you tube video on how they work and I have to say they are simple to use and work perfectly. I am really pleased with them. This Love variety comes with all the tools you need too.
