Good sleep data, good alarm, but still feels incomplete
What it does, it does well, but I do feel like it should be capable of more.Tracking-wise, you get some nice metrics around your sleep, both in terms of yourself (heart rate, sleep phases: how much and when, restlessness) and your environment (temperature, noise, brightness). On a day-by-day basis this works fine, and you might be able to work out some trend if you're paying attention. Graphing this data over time though is just something that Withings isn't particularly interested in. You'll get a weekly summary of just the amount of sleep you're getting, nothing more. Heart rate is mixed in with any other kind of pulse measurement that you might be taking in the Withings ecosystem. So your sleeping HR, blood pressure HR and (standing) scale measurement of HR would all be (uselessly) graphed together and the resting HR calculated by the Aura every night just sits on your nightly breakdown, forgotten. The smart alarm also works well. If you haven't used a smart alarm before (on a fitness tracker, for example), you give it a window to wake you up in and it monitors you to make sure that you're awoken at the best time (i.e. the lightest phase of sleep). I've found that it's best to give it a fairly small window, otherwise you might find yourself getting up much earlier than you really wanted. But it does work well: it plays a gentle sound (that ramps up in volume the longer you ignore it) and shines a bright light on your face to establish those all-important circadian rhythms. What it does not do is the Philips-wake-up-alarm style of increasing light brightness to simulate dawn and wake you up "naturally". I thought it probably would have a similar function, given the big light on this thing, and I was intrigued to see how that worked along with the smart sleep-phase monitoring, but Withings haven't explored that direction at all. It's all touch controlled, which is fine as long as you remember which gestures do what, but it's fairly straightforward really since all the heavy lifting is done in the app anyway.Improvements:- More data options are needed in the app, particularly trending views- Sharing/integration with other services would be nice (Goolge Fit / Apple Health)- Wake-up light alarm functionality

Over complicated, unintuitive, overpriced
I don't normally write reviews, but I feel compelled to write this review.Bought this earlier in the week due to struggling in the mornings and was looking forward to waking up to it this morning.Initial setup was rather difficult as others have mentioned. Setting alarms, however is very difficult, and is in a super hidden part of the withings app that you can't even get to without touching the device itself first! I have no idea how to get to them once they're set either!!I set my device to wake me up at 6:45am, and after much difficulty using the new Spotify playlist feature, set my alarm and volume. The sensor is really uncomfortable. It inflates itself a bit, and you can feel it underneath the mattress as a really raised lump. It push pressure on my chest, when lying in my front, and pressure on my shoulders when lying in my side. It's so noticeable under the mattress that I really struggled to get to sleep, despite the fancy red light that comes on during the sleep program. The red light is interesting, but did nothing to help me get to sleep.Morning comes, and the device decides to go off at 6:15, not 15 minute before or after my specified time, but a full 30mins before. The music starts off quite quiet, but really ramps up to being quite loud. I hit snooze to mute the music, but the music never came back after the snooze timer had finished. Instead, it reverted to really quiet waves until 6:45, before turning the music back on at FULL VOLUME, scaring the life out of both myself and my girlfriend. As for the blue light, it's quite a harsh colour, almost medicinal. I'd much prefer a warm sunrise colour to fill the room, than the blue crack den light that is enough to annoy you before you can enjoy its 'wake up wavelength' benefits.I was initially going to rate this 2 stars, purely for the Spotify function, but after being woken up even worse than my girlfriends simple alarm on her phone, I've decided to rescind that score and go back to 1 star.I'm absolutely appalled with this device. I'm hoping it's just teething issues and I'll get used to it, but it looks unlikely. Amazon could be expected a return by the weekend.

sleep sensor doesnt always sense
bought this sensor as bought the withings aura and needed another sensor so i could use one for me and one for my wife. connected this to the withings aura ok and all set up with the app the sensor does not pick up data every night, sometimes there are hours missing our hours added when I am not even in bed ?? when it does work you get your sleep type and heart rate which is good and enables you to understand why even if you've been in bed 8 hours but still feel shattered. we have a massive super king size bed and the sensors aren't long enough so you can sometimes not be getting picked up if you are I the middle of the bed.the aura and app also tells you how warm the room is, air quality and , light in the room and any noise. so you can get an idea if the room is too hot or cold for a good nights sleep.expensive , does it make you go to sleep , NOdoes it help you understand why you didn't go to sleep, yes sort of.can it help you get to sleep, yes as the temperature info is good information and the noise info ( not quite sure what the noises are as we have a detached house and no kids, maybe its just talking in your sleep or a parp???
