what are the amps on the transformer?

This is several months old now but I'm going to answer to help others because the other responses are wrong or were not helpful. A volt amp or VA is 1 amp at 1 volt so 1 amp at 24 volts would be 24 volt amps. So the common 40VA transformer = 40VA/ 24V = 1.67 Amps. And a 75 VA transformer = 75VA/24V = 3.125 amps. The transformer should draw less than 1 amp at 120V input and the output at 24 volts can provide as much as 3.125 amps if the load requires it. You can search for a volt amp calculator to verify my answers if you wish.

Where is the ground? Also, which of the two black/Yelow wires go to the postive 24v and which to the negative

The transformer gets grounded by the mounting base and this is an AC output, so there is no polarity,

Security panel on 2nd floor - display bad - characters randomly display. Current 40va transformer in basement. Would 75ma fix this problem?

Maybe, maybe not. Have you measured the supply voltage at your security panel with the problem?

is this UL approved and if so can i get documentation that it is. I may buy alot of them?
