Product Description The D2 offers audio fidelity and features of DACs costing several times more, but with one very important feature – it’s wireless! D2 is a simple to use yet powerful digital-to-analog converter with performance and features generally found in much more expensive DACs. The D2 processes digital audio at any bit depth up to 24 bits and sample rates to 192KHz, then sends your music over-the-air at 24/96. It accepts USB or PCM-stereo optical and will automatically configure to match either of these inputs. Box Contains (1) D2 Sender (1) Power supply (1) Detachable power cord, 1.5m (5ft) (1) USB cable, 2ft (0.6m) (1) Microfiber product bag

The best way to stream music from PC to HiFi
It has taken over two years for me to track down a gizmo that allowed me to stream music from my PC to my HiFi. Sounds simple, doesn't it. Well, I looked at umpteen DACs and other systems and they all have (to me) major disadvantages. I almost grudgingly bought a Sonos system (almost everyone's first suggestion) but it has an inbuilt limitation on the number of music files it can index (a lot admittedly but I have a lot of music) and it has a really crude remote control app.Every so often I had been googling, looking for what I really wanted and a few weeks ago I stumbled on the D2 - mentioned in a very obscure US computer audio forum. It seemed too good to be true. It did exactly what I wanted and every review I could find was very complimentary. Audioengine seem to have done their best to keep this brilliant little product under a huge bushel.Installation couldn't be simpler - just plug and play - and that doesn't often happen. I'm now listening to all my music without having to search for or juggle my CDs. I remote control my PC from a laptop with TeamViewer and use Windows MediaPlayer, MediaMonkey or whatever other player takes my fancy.

Simply Did Not Work
I have had to return two of them because they simply did not work despite a lengthy exchange of emails with Audioengine support. The first one work for a while and the quality was very good but then it failed. Very disappointed!

Excellent
Bought to replace the Nad DAC 2 as now I'm in a bigger home, it was dropping occasionally. However, no issues with the Audioengine D2. Superb performance.

Still the best HD music streaming option
I thought I'd update this review, as I've been using them for a long time now... 5 stars for the most functional, easily operated, best option for streaming high def music files. I've tried out all sorts of other wifi streaming options with all sorts of apps, docks, tablets etc etc. All along the D2 has been the most stable option. Buffering is just not an issue. Sometimes it will cut out for a second if you walk in the path of the antennae, but clicks straight back in. It doesn't support 192khz files, but automatically downsamples it to 96khz perfectly, and I can hardly tell any difference. The Burr Brown DAC sounds a little bit warm, but gives a clear and 'lush' sound to most genres of music. I compared it to a Sabre DAC in a Concero HP (RRP 800), and I actually preferred the sound of the D2 plugged into some audioengine A5+ speakers... no amp required! The connections are so flexible, having optical or phono outputs, so I can plug the receivers into any equipment I have.I have two receivers, making it a great low cost (compared to full sonos systems etc), high def multiroom system, using a mini PC to stream to two rooms, with an IPAD and JRiver app as a remote. Perfect setup. I can't recommend it highly enough.
